BJ Stearns likes to chat on his phone for 30 minutes of a 60 minute private tennis lesson. You really get your $100 worth. Coaches don't last long and get burned out after a few years. Good news though! This academy is a great overpriced pipeline for future tennis coaches.
Great academy. My daughter and her friend attended the academy for a week and both had a great experience. The coaches were all excellent and they learned a lot during the week while also having a great time. The entire staff, coaches and students were all very friendly and made them feel at home during their stay. We definitely plan on going back as the experience was better than we could have hoped for. I highly recommend Smith Stearns to anyone looking to improve their game while having a good time doing it.
Smith Stearns really let us down this year, it was not the experience I was hoping for. My child attended multiple clinics while on vacation in Hilton Head and it was a joke. For $100 a clinic we were expecting serious play the entire 2 hours. Instead, the first 20 minutes were spend walking over to the hard courts and they let them go 15 minutes early so the coaches could get back to the main courts for their private lessons. There was SO much talking and goofing off between the coaches and clinic kids, as well as many long unproductive drink breaks. The competition was good, however it wasn’t worth the 1 hour of actual practice they did. Will be taking our business to Van Der Meer in the future.
Teaching experience was very strong; however, the social support/orientation of the student to the school and program was poor. For non-boarding students, even those who take a 4+ week camp program, there was no camper orientation support.
Excellent Training for high level Tennis. Smith Stearns is a energetic, fun, and has a nurturing environment to take your tennis to the highest level. So happy to train from the best in this all inclusive academy
Doesn’t worth money you will pay for weekly or short term camps. Academy only focuses on long term students and there is no focus for short term players. Very dissapointing and I will not recommend this camp for short terms.
Old.Out of date. No guest support. Boring! I hope youhave a bike if you stay there.
Friendly stuff. Balanced tennis training. Nice housing. Students from all over the world.
Great courts and well kept. Able to play at all levels.
