For our struggle is not with flesh and blood but with the principalities, with the powers, with the world rulers of this present darkness, with the evil spirits in the heavens. Ephesians 6:12
Soldiers Under Command Household Covenant:
For our struggle is not with flesh and blood but with the principalities, with the powers, with the world rulers of this present darkness, with the evil spirits in the heavens. Ephesians 6:12
This statement summarizes our struggle upon earth, a struggle with the most important of spoils: the souls of mankind. We realize that our ultimate fate hinges upon this battle. Therefore, we have taken up the call. We are Soldiers Under Command. Being a soldier carries certain qualifications:
• A soldier must be obedient:
- By obedience to the truth you have purified yourselves for a genuine love of your brothers; therefore, love one another constantly from your heart. 1 Peter 1:22
• A soldier must be full of courage:
- Fresh from the humiliation we had suffered at Philippi…we drew courage from our God to preach his good tidings to you in the face of great opposition. 1 Thessalonians 2:2
• A soldier must have the quality of endurance:
- If we hold out to the end, we shall also reign with Him. But if we deny Him, He will deny us. 2 Timothy 2:12
St. Paul elaborates:
- You must put on the armor of God if you are to resist on the evil day; do all that your duty requires, and hold your ground. Ephesians 6:13
Our armor is prayer and sacrifice. Our weapons are special devotion to St. Michael the Archangel, the Holy Rosary and the Blessed Sacrament.
God is our loving, faithful and mighty Commander. All of our love, obedience and trust belong to Him. Like a true leader, He will mold us into one, uniting us into one brotherhood – selfless and caring.
As Soldiers Under Command, St. Paul gives us the following summary:
- Be on your guard, stand firm in the faith, and act like men. 1 Corinthians 16:13
Obedience, Courage, Endurance. "Be on your guard, stand firm in the faith, and act like men." -1 Corinthians 16:13
