The fitness center has been closed for 6 months without even starting construction! the manager told us it would open 7 months before and now it’s November which will likely be put off close to a year without a gym. The residents would all love to know why they couldn’t pay contractors to remodel the fitness center in a reasonable timeline instead close to a year or longer with no amenities aside from the pool! They expect everyone to pay top price for cheap. This is labeled a luxury community but the fixtures are over 20 years old- your AC will break and have to be replaced, tubs are cracking and they don’t replace. The regional manager also ignores calls and never addresses issues. They pay the cheapest trash service so your trash doesn’t get picked up and you have to pay $35 a month anyway for a 10 gallon trash can! they actually tell you your trash weighs too much! my neighbor and I have both weighed our own trash and it’s always under the limit. There’s a trash can on the ground sitting outside my neighbors apartment and they have never picked it up! poor management for a top level price.
Been living in Somerset Townhomes for a year and just renewed for one more year. The environment is good and neighbors are nice. The management and maintenance team usually responds pretty quickly especially for emergency repairs like water and A/C. Love the pool and the gym, and I hope the gym can reopen soon! There are many community events too if you like to social.
Somerset has been the perfect place to call home. The area is great, the space that you get in your home is great, but most importantly the maintenance team is stellar! Patrick and Ahmed are always there to help, get the job done quickly and professionally, they are both super personable, and will give your dogs all the love and pets
I lived here 6 months before moving out for work and really enjoyed my time here. 1k square feet for a 1bd/1ba is a ton, and I ended up with a lot of unused space. Very spacious kitchen with plenty of cabinet and counter space and a pantry for those who like to cook and have a wide selection of pots/pans/appliances/etc. Flat top stoves are very easy to clean and it comes with a microwave. Same goes for the bathroom. There's Built-in shelves and an extra closet for more storage space. Never had a negative interaction with the staff and maintenance was fast the few times I needed to call them. Location-wise, I was able to get around the city fine from Somerset without a car by using buses bus stops within <10 min walk with downtown service and rideshares. There's also an HEB within a 10 minute walk. I paid about 2k/month in rent which included a 150/month premium for my short lease length. You will also have to pay for utilities, specifically gas which I didn't have to pay for at my previous unit in the area. Its pricier but that is to be expected with the quality and size. Other luxury apartments like the ones on Burnet and Lamar or in Mueller will charge the same rent for much smaller units 600-800 sq ft Biggest downside is that MoPac is right across the street, so you will hear traffic and the occassional motorcycle loudly zooming down the highway while you're trying to sleep. Theres also a railway nearby that is frequented by freight trains and some of the trains that go by will actually cause things to shake.
I've lived here for a few months and have been thoroughly impressed with the staff. The management team is quick to answer any questions and the maintenance team in particular is quick to fulfill requests next day. They even offered to help install my video doorbell. Many thanks to Patrick and the rest of the Somerset team!
Let me start by saying: the staff is very friendly, accommodating, and attentive better than any other management staff I have encountered in the past. Not only that, but they work hard to keep consistent communications and hold events that bring tenants together in fun ways holiday parties, summer pool parties, etc. The office staff isn't where it stops either. The maintenance staff is awesome as well. They are very fast at getting things fixed or replaced and are great about following up to make sure things are better than before. They are also as friendly as the office staff. The community is certainly quiet and has great access to the highway, stores, and various amenities. The complex, as a whole, is fairly well maintained and has minor issues of showing its age not enough to bring it down to 4/5. I would recommend this facility for anyone that wants ample space, a quiet place to rest, and plenty of amenities to keep you busy gym, pool, clubhouse, etc, while also having appropriate distance to/from the city.
This place is bizarre! Gym closed for 4 months, and then delayed to go 6 months. Management provided compensation for fitness membership and made an effort to resolve the issue.
I am going on 6 months of residing here and have been pleasantly surprised. The management and maintenance teams have been professional, responsive, and respectful. The community is quiet and the neighbors are friendly. The location serves me well and my commute in to downtown to work is 17-20 minutes in rush hour traffic, whereas before was anywhere from 35-120 minutes. AND there are multiple alternative routes to use should MoPac SlowPac become too congested which is huge added bonus. I can walk to the grocery, drug, liquor and convenience stores if needed within 5-7 minutes. Post office and banking is also very close by if needed. Easy walking and cycling routes through nice neighborhoods as well when I need to get some exercise time in.
It's a quiet and clean place to live, but it's pricey. The front office is a revolving door of receptionists. The package system here is poor and sometimes I won't get packages for days and I'm rarely notified that I've received any. When I first moved here, they kept forgetting to call pest control or would send them to the wrong unit. Pest control only comes on Fridays, so their blunder left me with ants and crickets for 4 weeks. They kept trying to pin it on me until they realized I was home on all Fridays pest control was supposed to come. I've also raised concerns with management about noise. They didn't respond to my messages online and when I called, the person who picked up was rude and unhelpful. The only people who consistently help are maintenance. Those guys are great. All in all, it's an okay place to live and it's in a great location.
My wife and I were going to lease at Somerset Townhomes but my work transfer fell through. We loved the location, trees, amenities, the floorplan, attached garage, and the pool. We had a personal tour of the unit and it was in great shape. The Manager came out to welcome us to the community. If we relocate to Austin, we will definitely lease here.
