The Sonnenalp Vail Resort is real gem! The hotel itself defines old world European elegance. If you are looking for ritz and glitz you need to look elsewhere as this hotel and its staff is all about service, elegance, charm and taste. When I think of the mountains I think of warm cozy luxurious surroundings & the Sonnenalp nails this. The spaces in rooms are warm, inviting and charming. The restaurants are amazing and the spa is world class. There’s nothing we do not like about this hotel. From the moment you walk in the door you feel welcomed and taken care of. One other thing I have to mention is that the linens are beautiful: they have big, soft, fluffy duvets and you just melt into them. It’s wonderful and the bathrooms are fabulous - large soaking tubs for two. The location is perfect right in the middle of Vail Village. We would never change a thing. We are already planning our return
Sonnenalp met all our expectations.Checking in with Jerry,Manuel at the concierge desk,Andy the bellhop... The whole stuff was absolutely phenomenal!Housekeeping did a great job too by keeping our room impeccably clean and addressing all our needs. The breakfast was fantastic, BUT way too overpriced! If they were able to charge less than we paid we would have had our breakfast there every day, otherwise ended up being at the restaurant just once. Thank you and we will definitely come back!
Absolutely love photographing at this venue!! It's one of my favorites for small, intimate weddings.... especially the first week in October. The restaurant food is fantastic. The staff is always very friendly. It's located close to Vai village parking, the church, right on the river. Highly recommend.
We loved this hotel. The staff was incredible. Everyone from the front desk, to the spa workers, the cleaning crew, the kitchen staff were all so helpful and kind. The hotel was so clean. There wasn’t a dust bunny or hidden spiderweb in any corners of the hotel. The breakfast buffet was the best I’ve seen. If we find ourselves in vail again, we will be staying here.
If you're looking for a 5 star resort, this is your place. Amazing staff, clean well maintained interior and exterior and landscaping. Heated pool that is half inside and half outside, spa, 3 hot tubs at different temperatures. Check their website for all amenities. You will have a excellent time staying here.Rooms: 5/5
World-class European Elegance! This wonderful resort is one of our favorite places in the world. Its old world European elegance and charm makes us want to return again and again. It is warm and homey, comfortable, and your every need is attended to. The rooms are beautiful, with a cozy sitting area, fireplace, comfortable beds, large walk-in closet, and an amazing large bathroom with separate soaking tub big enough for two, and a wonderful walk-in shower. The spa is world class with a wonderful fireplace sitting area, and state of the art fitness area. But perhaps what I look forward to the most, is breakfast at Ludwigs. Everything you could ever want at the highest quality. The bacon is the best I have ever had. I’m already looking forward to returning here.
Terrible! The hotel and rooms themselves are nice and cozy. BUT... I reserved 2 rooms. No one could sleep because the heat wasn't working properly. We turned our thermostat down to 60 because it was 85 degrees in the rooms. Called front desk three times and they told us to turn the thermostats completely off. We did, but it remained over 85 degrees in the rooms all night, heat pouring out of the system. No one slept. We had to open balcony windows and doors, which wasn't much better because of street noise. Second, a more minor issue was that the phone in one of the rooms didn't work, so I had to walk downstairs to place a room service order. After a terrible night where no one could sleep, we spoke with management who offered nothing but 'I'm sorry, it's an old heating system.' We were told that if we ever wanted to stay there again, we would be offered a discount next time. NO THANK YOU. I understand things happen that are beyond the hotel's control but not offering at least a discount is absurd. Then, we accidently left a coat at the hotel, and they wanted to charge me for shipping on the coat. REALLY?? Will never stay here again and never recommend to anyone, unless you want to sweat out almost 90 degrees all night. Terribly unprofessional.
Legendary property! It was on point with every detail and such a cozy stay for our family ski trip. Knowledgable staff and beautiful property that really stands apart from other hotels. Kids really enjoyed it too.Rooms: 5/5
Fantastic place to stay, right in the middle of lots to do even during off season. Everyone has been super friendly and helpful. Restaurants are excellent too.Rooms: 5/5
The Sonnenalp is one of the nicest places in Vail Village to stay, the location is outstanding. While we have never stayed there before, we have eaten at all three restaurants within the hotel over half a dozen times. The Swiss Chalet is our favorite due to it's uniqueness, but Ludwig's is fabulous as well. Two of the best restaurants in all of Vail Village located right within the Sonnenalp. Bully Ranch, the third restaurant is a casual pub type experience and is nice for what it is. In any event, this hotel just for it's location and restaurants alone is worth the stay. Being a 5 star hotel, I'm sure the rooms at the Sonnenalp are beautiful too. One of these days we'll actually stay there!
