Great prices on all their drinks and food. Bartenders and doorman were great. Made you feel like you were a regular. But it was my first time there. And they had a live band that was really good. If I'm ever in the area I will definitely go there. You need to try it you won't be disappointed.
Was looking for the "local taste" of Cookeville and definitely found it here. Awesome divey but nice local atmosphere. Cool bar area. Prices and staff great.
We used to go every couple of weeks and it was very good. I don’t know what happened, but the last few times the food wasn’t very good at all. Overcooked, undercooked, not tasty….. Maybe they changed cooks. Good atmosphere and nice staff. It was one of our favorite places and we’re easy to please. Our group is hesitant to go back now because nothing is inexpensive anymore. I hope it improves.
Good Food...not a lot of Draught Beer selection...No Veterans Discount.
Pleasantly surprised by how delicious the chicken parmesan was! Still a bar vibe in a college community but a great spot for a bite to eat
Small restaurant and bar near Tennessee Tech that's been around for a long time. It has a nice, laid back feel and there's a tent covered outdoor area where you can eat if you wish. The menu has changed over time but the food remains good. We had a couple of the OG dishes; I had the 'Chicken Stix' which is grilled chicken on skewers with a baked potato. Both were cooked well and very tasty, but to me the chicken was a touch on the plain side. It was still cooked very well, being moist and not dry at all; I just felt it could've used some sort of marinade or sauce. The waitress was happy to bring me a cup of one of the many sauces they have, which did help. My sister had the 'Lemon Chicken Pasta' which she loves and orders often. I just wanted to point out that it's not what you might imagine when thinking of lemon chicken. It has a tomato based sauce with vegetables and has a slightly spiced tang to it. It's not my taste but lots of people do seem to enjoy it. Spankies is known for its bread which is a sort of yeasty bread with a soft, fluffy middle and a moist, cheesy topping. I was a bit disappointed that it was rather stale/dry on this visit, but it's probably the first time it's ever been this way on any of my visits. We were there right during lunch rush so that might have been why. Even though they were busy, our waitress was still attentive. Parking: There's a decent amount of parking to the side of the building. Wheelchair accessibility: I think a wheelchair could enter fairly easily but it is just a regular door. There are tables you could pull up to inside. I can't recall for sure but I think there's a step up onto either the area leading up to the door or into the restaurant, maybe both.
Let me start off by saying if i could give it no stars or negative stars i would. January 14th 2023, took my 14 yo daughter here to eat because she had never ate here before. It was her birthday request. We had a party of 16. Got here at 5:30pm. Several, several parties came and went, it was 7:45 pm before we got our food. Not the experience i would have liked to give my daughter for her birthday…. Lost a customer, would not return here even if the food was free.
A nice local place that everyone should try. The chicken on a stix is phenomenal, as are the roasted potatoes. The garlic bread also a fantastic flavor. The lunch setup is a little weird, and the guy at the counter could've been friendlier. I will be visiting again though.
We live this place and come here very often. The ambience is just right for a restaurant bar with the right decor and music. The service was excellent every time and the food is delicious.
Spankies is a great TTU hang out with a lot of great tradition. The food is great and the service is outstanding. If you go for lunch be sure and get the cheese bread! It is dangerously good.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: YesTakeout: YesCurbside pickup: Yes
