Sparrow Regional Laboratories

Not exactly a "fun" experience, but I was happy. Sign in at the ipad and you get a text message with a wait time. Mine was 70 minutes. Left to do some other things, and came back around 60 minutes later. Sure enough, I got the text to come inside right when expected. Inside, the waiting room was packed. I waited another 5-7 minutes before getting called back. The tech was great and the blood draw was fast and painless. Took just a few minutes and then I was out of there. Overall can't ask them to do much more when they do 150-175 of these a day.

Been trying to get labs done for literal months. There is no way to make an appointment, and even if you get there at 6am it’s a 1-2 hour wait. If you work a lot, good luck.

Terrible. If this is what Sparrow has turned into, go somewhere else. Every lab they have is closed! And their service is horrendous. Recently, I was seen at the Sparrow Frandor Urgent Care. And the doctor there wrote me not one…but TWO prescriptions without ever examining me. I never went to an exam room. She wrote them in the waiting room.. And that bit of brilliance allowed my pneumonia to progress, to the point of getting terribly sick! This, after being misdiagnosed at the Sparrow Okemos ER. I finally went back to a third Sparrow facility on Grand River before I FINALLY got a competent doctor. Here’s a newsflash Sparrow. You can’t prescribe drugs to a patient that you don’t have relationship with / haven’t seen.

The lab says is open until 2 pm. I arrived at 12:50 and there was a sign that they didn't help any other patients. Unacceptable and unprofessional. I will never go there again.

What a terrible services. In morning, wait time is over two hrs. You have to sign in if you want to drop something. It’s Sparrows monopoly, patients are helpless. Aftab Ahmad

Very bad experience yesterday, April 6, I arrived at 2:00 pm, which they close at 2:30, sparrow from the grand river, I went in and made the line, the nurse who was on duty attending to the patients never told me that it was already closed which clearly says 2:30 the laboratory closes. When my dark-colored husband entered, she came out with an attitude and without measuring any kind of word, she put the stand aggressively and told me that she was not going to attend to me. I felt discriminated against. The patients who were waiting looked at her surprised! In fact, in 8 years, a patient at the sparrow hospital, this would be my first bad experience with that specific Clinic 1600 W. Grand River Ave Okemos. That Nurse little empathy and lacks professionalism.

Grungy waiting room with over an hour of wait time. Normally not an issue but when fasting and during work hours I expect quicker service.

Not reliable after lunch hours. Multiple times I've gone in before 2pm they close at 2:30 and signs are posted that states they are not taking anymore patients. Being chronically Ill and having a busy schedule I rely on local labs to be open. It's very inconvenient when the lab isn't open when it should be.

Staff could use some serious training on professionalism and bed side manner. The most unpleasant experience. From the moment I walked in, staff members were complaining about their job duties and patients. When a patient has a long list of blood tests requested by an ONCOLOGIST, maybe it’s not appropriate to complain about how annoying it is to look up “all of these” codes.

The wait is atrocious I'm not gonna lie, but I think the staff in this building is doing the best they can under the circumstances. They have a nice set up going where you go in and check in then wait outside the building. You get a text message letting you know it's time to come back in. I wish there was a way to get in line from home with the expected time text and then the 10 minute text. Maybe that's to come maybe not. Either way I feel like any issues I might have are really out of staff control. The staff is friendly and helpful and moving as fast as they probably can, wouldn't want mistakes because they are going to fast and not paying attention.
