Description

Bourbon, Burgers, and Beer are all strong cultural elements of our rich American history and their popularity continues to grow and evolve, even today. Historically, Jacob Spears is accredited with being the first distiller to actually label his product “Bourbon,” after Bourbon County, Kentucky. This new aged whiskey has been the preferred drink by so many that it has earned the nickname, “America’s own spirit.”

The Hamburger was first created in America in 1900 by Louis Lassen, owner of Louis’ Lunch in Connecticut. There have been rival claims by Charlie Nagreen, Frank and Charles Menches, Fletcher David, and Oscar Weber Bilby. The hamburger gained national recognition at the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair when the New York Tribune namelessly attributed the hamburger as, “the innovation of a food vendor on the pike.” No conclusive claim has ever been made to end the dispute over the inventor of the hamburger with a variety of claims and evidence asserted since its creation.

Beer can be traced far back in time in all different directions. Regionally speaking, the Native Americans brewed beer in these lands prior to the European arrival. One recipe was composed of maize, birch sap, and water. The earliest record of brewing by non-native people, here in the U.S. dates from 1587. The first commercial brewery that opened in the United States was the Dutch West India Company of Lower Manhattan in 1632. America is often referred to as the melting pot of the world. Within this melting pot is a broad array and wide variety of stiff bourbons, gourmet natural burgers, and professionally selected craft beers.

Came here on a Sunday to try this establishment. Great decor inside with lots of wood and barrels. Nice place to hangout and eat and drink. For the appetizer we got the Spinach and Artichoke dip which was plentiful. Great taste. For our main we got the classic burger which didn't disappoint. Good portion and not dry. The fried chicken sandwich was big enough to split in two. Also the hand cut fries were great. The Asian coleslaw was great. Definitely will be back to try other menu items.
Went here for dinner with a friend of mine and the weather was so great we sat on the patio! Server was fantastic & food was very good. We both had salads & would definately get them again! And don't miss the Pineapple hard cider! DELICIOUS! The restaurant was packed & lots of people outside too. It was great to see people out and about again!
Service was 10 out of 10! Nice tap list. Appreciated that we were served the shared meals right out of the kitchen with the sides split too. Burgers were fantastic.
I had a spicy southwest black bean patty burger with fries and a 1919 root beer. The food was fantastic! The patty was not what I was expecting. It must be made in-house, but it was perfectly seasoned and the pico and siracha mayo complimented it perfectly. I only wish it held together better though if it had to sacrifice flavor for it, I would take the flavor any day. The fries is as good as Five Guys’ fries at a bare minimum, and probably better. The 1919 root beer was also terrific. We went at a dead hour, so we practically had the place to ourselves, so I wouldn’t be able to speak to atmosphere and service when it’s busy, but the decor is very nice with a rugged aesthetic, and the service was just right. I would definitely recommend this place and I look forward to coming back again in the future! Vegetarian options: There’s at least one burger - the black bean burger. I wouldn’t say there is a ton of options, but it was enough for me.
Must try the stuffed banana peppers, cheese curds, and alligator nuggets!! The burgers are super juicy, and the vampire fires are my favorite! So many different burger options and a vast whiskey menu!Food: 5/5
I’ve eaten here a few times before and it was good. This was the perfect place to enjoy a sunny afternoon lunch. The patio is has plenty of seating and you are not crammed into a tiny space. However, you do need to be careful on the west side because the tables are very close to the sidewalk which drops off into a planting area that isn’t well maintained and you could easily roll ankle. I like when a menu has multiple appealing options. I chose a cold Krombacher on tap. I’m not an appetizer fan but the Wisconsin cheese curds with Cajun ranch were hot and melty, not the least bit oily, were a must have and did not disappoint. I don’t order many salads out because they give you the leavings of the romaine ribs with very little lettuce in them. Many places give the best part of the lettuce as garnish to a burger that usually gets thrown out. The Spears signature is possibly the best dish in the menu. Everything was fresh, hot and a delicious blend of tastes, with the exception of the croutons. They were overly spiced and left a bad taste in your mouth. There are a ton of options to enjoy at Spears for everyone to enjoy.
I ordered a hangover burger and fried alligator for pickup it was so yummy. Cooked perfectly. I got a side of fries with the burger and they still tasted good and fresh after the drive home which is hard get now a days. The host who brought me my order was also very nice and welcoming. They also have a nice patio set up can’t wait to come back.
Service was terrible. Food was terrific. Took for every to get service and when they finally showed up it was extremely slow. It was busy, but there were empty tables so it wasn't packed. When I food did arrive we were given the wrong food. We didn't even notice it at first and started cutting into our food. It was brought to our attention by the server and we give them credit that they fixed the problem immediately. I wanted to give them three stars because of service, but giving the benefit of doubt that our server may have been new I decided four stars as the food was very good. Will keep an open mind in going again when in the area. Forgot to mention if you like bourbon they have an extensive list available. We did order an appetizer and with two burgers, one beer and one come with tip we spent $35 per person.
Dined in here as a recommendation from friends as a place with a good burger. My friends were right! I had the bison burger and my fiancé had the Leopold Venison/Wagyu burger. Both were delicious. My bison burger came with the “Spears secret sauce.” Not sure what it was, but it complemented the mushrooms, cheese, and onions well. No need for ketchup or mustard. Can’t go wrong with a pretzel bun either. The BBQ chips are some of the best restaurant chips I’ve ever had — they have a nice sweetness to them that I didn’t expect. We went on a Saturday around 6pm with a reservation, and as the meal went on, the place filled up. The TVs had a mix of March Madness and UFC. Overall, the burgers were really good and we liked the vibe of the restaurant. We will be returning here any time we want a burger!
We came here after work for an office happy hour. The restaurant's atmosphere is pleasant, and the waitress is exceptionally nice and helpful. The menu showcases an extensive range of beer and burger options. I opted for an American Amber and some smoky wings. The beer complemented the wings, which had a satisfying smoky flavor but leaned slightly towards being dry.
