I am now extremely frustrated with the billing department at St. Luke's. I had an eye exam to diagnose headaches that was a referral from my primary doctor. The eye exam provider was also St. Luke's. The gist of this story is that my insurance rejected the claim for my eye exam and St. Luke's told me that they would send the claim back through my insurance with a different code because the service was not for a routine exam, it was for a specific service that should have been covered. They told me they were resubmitting the claim months ago and that I should wait until that process finishes. Well, now I have received the exact same bill with no change to the coding, so I went to look at my claim history with my insurance and St. Luke's never recoded or resubmitted my claim to my insurance. I am completely contesting my bill! Patient advocacy has not returned emails, and the billing department has not done what they said they could do. I have struggled in the past with St. Luke's billing and am about to switch to Essentia, which I WOULD HATE because I have a history with my primary. It's $500. This should not be an issue to get resolved.
My husband spent 17 days between cardiac care and ICU. Overall pleased with the care however not pleased with the loss of a favorite pair of pants which he had on during ambulance transport. As he improved, he wore them to stay warm. They became soiled and his nurse kindly called me and put them in a plastic bag for me to pick up. When I arrived the bag had disappeared and nursing was unable to locate anywhere in hospital. Likely trashed. Disappointing!!!
I love this hospital/clinic! They have such a beautiful way of connecting with and seeing me as a PERSON, not as merely another patient. They are really very knowledgeable, addressing my physical needs as well as explaining them to me in a extremely satisfactory manner!
My husband is in ICU now. He's getting extraordinarily great care. The nurses and the entire care team are positive, supportive and communication wonderful.
The My Portal for St Luke's works great. I am able to contact my specialist easier plus quicker. Requests for records is so much easier than going into to do the signed request.
I found out on the 6th I had a bad heart valve. I was ambulanced to St Luke's cardiac wing. They were Swift and finding what the problem was and corrected it with a pacemaker. Through the whole time that I was there what great staff Medical professionals all the way I enjoyed my stay. And the nurses and doctors answered every question I had and treated me like royalty what a good bunch of medical professionals. If you ever have a problem with your heart St Luke's is the place to go.
Very nice phone converstion with hospital staff. Gave me the website to ask for information I needed. Very Helpful!! Thank you Carla
I was born here. Even when short on staff, they make your stay comfortable. Had my gall bladder taken out here. Sudden pain in your stomach that feels like BIG, PAINFUL heartburn that doctors think is gas is likely to be gall stones. Had to wait a small while, but that's okay. Paperwork is being filed, lives are being saved. Had my kidney stones destroyed here too. Waited for the nurses' strike before I could go back for my checkup. Then we tried getting me a urine bottle thing or whatever to send over, but the company that manufactures them didn't deliver. Don't know what happened there, but I don't think it's the hospital's fault.
My doctor left St Luke’s in July 2022 and I needed to find a new Dr. I called the appointment line to find an available doctor and made an appointment. I called in August 2022 and I asked for an appointment and they told me I could get in for a physical. I told them I could not get a physical until the end of November or December because my last physical was the end of November. I am on Medicare and was told that in November of 2021 I did not have a physical instead I had a wellness visit. I expressed my doubts, but the gentleman was insistent that I could get in earlier if I came in for a physical and it would be covered. I made the appointment and when I went to see the doctor I again expressed my concern about a physical being covered. Almost 3 months later St Luke’s sends me a bill for $345 for the UNCOVEVERED PHYSICAL!!! All I wanted was an office visit!!! I called their billing department and explained the situation and after a week was called back and told my bill had been adjusted and now I ‘ONLY’ owe $191+. I have Plan G insurance and already pay a high monthly premium + the Medicare Ins deducted from my SS. With Plan G I owe an annual out of pocket deductible and then everything is covered. Never in my life have I scheduled an appointment too early. Trusting the employee to know his job was a mistake! 1/5/2023 UPDATE St Luke’s did reach out and a positive resolution was reached on this issue! Thank you St Luke’s for listening and understanding.
The only reason they get even two stars is because when I had surgery there it was a good experience, but literally the rest of the times have been a nightmare. St Luke's is the most unreliable hospital I've ever been to. Their urgent care is completely useless, there's next to nothing they can actually treat there every time I've had the misfortune of having to go to urgent care the doctors did absolutely nothing for me whatsoever, and in fact have routinely misgendered me & called me by the wrong name. When I submitted a formal complaint because of it they refused to address the midgendering & misnaming and just told me that my "care was up to standard", which it was not. I had a raging kidney infection and had to go to essentia to get the antibiotics i begged for at St Luke's. And that's on the rare occasion urgent care is even open- usually you drive there just to find that it's unexpectedly closed. Even ecare is a joke, I did an ecare appointment yesterday where the doctor is supposed to respond within an hour, as of the next day I'm still waiting for a response.
