Outpatients appointment line have stopped taking calls! I have been trying to call to change a Rheumatology appointment which I am not able to attend, for 3 days and each time I’ve called there is a message to say that due to high call numbers they are no longer adding calls to the queue and then the call hangs up! They have basically turned their phones off! I also tried calling the main switchboard but I was transferred to a voice mail service which didn’t allow me to leave a message! How are patients supposed to advise the hospital if they can not attend appointments?! I may now be discharged because I’ve seemingly missed appointment. Also another patient could have had my appointment but now it will have been wasted. Absolutely appalling conduct from this hospital. I will be making a formal complaint. What a disgrace!
Supposed to have an appointment at the breast clinic. I've rung them several times today and yesterday to rebook as I can't make it due to weather. No answer on the number they sent me to cancel or rebook. Left 2 messages and no one has called me back. Rang the hospital switchboard, they couldn't even tell me if the department was open or not. So now my appointment was missed as I couldn't cancel or rearrange it.
Departments extremely efficient, Urology, Cardiology, Phebotomy, X-ray. 5* Urology not so good lack of urgency in their obligation to see patients, failure to make appointments, I've been waiting 16wks when an appointment should have been arranged at 6wks after test. 1*
Had my bloods done there for the first time, lady who took my blood was young and wore bit too much make up thought nurses have to fit in some sort of standards when it comes to that. When she took the needle out felt like she scrapped me inside done my best not to scream and she have not applied any pressure nor asked me to hold my finger on the cotton ball as they normaly do, she just put the plaster with a cotton ball and told me its all done. Struggled to drive, when i got home i have looked at my arm and it was all swollen and sore. Had my bloods done on the 12th of January, today is the 22nd and my arm still sore and blue. They should train their staff properly. Was hoping to attach the picture of my arm but it won't let me
Urodynamic Department at Oak Unit, St Margaret’s Hospital - a Study performed by Barry and Rosie was carried out with absolute respect, both have such a caring nature. They are so committed to making you feel at ease.
The heating is left on!!.Even with a heatwave over the summer..They said not working.and.always left.on !!.And.for.how.long, indefinitely!! No ventilation.for.patients..One would think a.hospital.manager.would be.able.to.arrange.a.plumber!!! .especially as.ventilation is.particulary important regarding.Covid.etc..not to.mention.more NHS bills!! This Community Hospital is also.not suitable for Palitive care,, quite.shocking.go be honest and.they should.take.their.sign.down. Disgusting
The hospital layout is confusing for a newcomer. I was looking for Dermatology Dept sign , and sure enough there was one, in the form of a banner, trouble was it was poorly hung, making it difficult , if not impossible to read. For the moment it has for me, only has one redeeming feature. The car parkings free !!!
Rang and held on for 35 mins but no answer. Seriously? If staff shortages are that bad perhaps they should shut down as they are obviously unable to offer any service whatsoever
Excellent service and facilities at this hospital, but needs strong investment to bring it out of the 1960s into the modern era.
My mother was sent to St. Margaret’s for 2 weeks rehabilitation after spending several weeks at Harlow Hospital after a hip op, which had been a good experience. Unfortunately, due to my mother’s age and kidney failure she died in St.Margarets 10 days later. We were told she was dying after the weekend she was admitted and was assured this was the best place for her. Unfortunately, it wasn’t. There seemed to be a lack of care and compassion. The place is especially empty at the weekends, nobody around and nobody to let you in. They lost my mothers teeth on arrival and only a few genuine nice staff. My father suffered incompetence 15 years previously as a plastic cap from an ear thermometer had been accidently been dropped down his throat whilst lying with a stroke. We found it blocking his airways. I had hoped the place had changed but it hadn’t. It is not a good place for Palative End of Life care in my opinion, due to lack of personal attention , lack of detail and although hardly any patients in the place hard to locate staff that an elderly bed ridden person needs as they lay alone out of sight in a room at the end of a corridor.
