The Transitional Year residency program at St. Mary Mercy Hospital is an ACGME fully accredited one-year intensive training program.
The objective of the Transitional Year is to provide a well-balanced program of graduate medical education in multiple clinical disciplines designed to facilitate the choice of and preparation for a specific specialty.
The St. Mary Mercy Hospital educational programs overall goals and objectives are to graduate an outstanding, competent, knowledgeable and qualified internal medicine primary care physician, hospitalist or subspecialty applicant. The overall curriculum is primary care-orientated with flexibility to accommodate the personal needs of each individual resident.
St. Mary Mercy is a 304-bed community hospital that has strong ties to its community in beautiful southeast Michigan. We are a member of Saint Joseph Mercy Health System. This allows us access to the academic and subspecialty clinical resources of a large tertiary care center, while allowing us to practice in a primary-care-based environment. We are affiliated with three local medical schools: Wayne State University, the University of Toledo, and Michigan State University.
