It was in pretty rough shape. A lot of empty shelves. Overall the store could use a cleaning. Like the windows where the entrance is- which has duct tape on a portion of the window frame. There are serious irregularities with temperature controlled cases. The eggs, dairy, frozen foods, ice cream. Products show signs of hot/cold fluctuations. It is time for a renovation as well. Not a particularly inspiring environment visually. The workers were complaining about being short staffed and having to work extra shifts. Lovely.
Prices are good and I like that you get the sale price without needing a special card. But I do see a lot of expired items on the shelves. If you buy perishable food, check the expiration date before putting it in your cart!
I don't go to Star Market for most items because they are usually much more expensive than other places like Trader Joe's, Market Basket, and Aldi. But they are a decent convenience store in that they have a good selection, including a variety of gluten free items and household goods. Sometimes they have good sale items. Overall, though, I definitely opt to do most of my shopping elsewhere and visit here only when I need something last minute or when I know items I buy are on sale.
Terrible experience! I was there around 7:40pm on Aug 26, there were 2 guys, one was the cashier, and one was the grocery bagger. Both were very rude, and racism. They discriminated customers using OTC and SNAP benefits. When the manager apologize to me, the guys even said why he said sorry. Strongly recommend the store management can follow-up and take actions.
Small store but well stocked and lots of options. Better produce than other locations in the area
Items are neatly arranged & displayed. Self billing & payment is very helpful in saving the time instead of standing in the line.
Nice place. A little pricey for a Star Market, but the small size makes it easier to shop.
A cosy and well stocked supermarket in the upscale neighborhood of Brookline. Prices are reasonable for the convenient location. There is a large fresh fruit and vegetable area upon entering the store, the deli, meat and seafood counters to the back of the store have a good variety. They even stock live lobsters in a tank. Photos show aisle staples of bread, jam and a delicious bone-in ribeye.
This is a standard Star Market, though it is also a bit smaller than some of its counterparts. We found most of what we might require when shopping here. However, I’m rarely impressed by the high prices at Star Markets in general. If you want the same food at a better price and are willing to travel, go to Market Basket. For better food, I prefer Trader Joe’s, which has better food and better prices.
First time at a supermarket in Boston. Fun times. Admired all the sights such as the bottle of aunt jemima with no aunt jemima on it any more and the new diet tide pods. A true showcase of contemporary internet culture!
