Andrew and his team were wonderful during our families time of need. Having to deal with a death that occurred outside of NY went seamlessly, all I had to do was make one call to Star of David and they took care of everything so we could focus on our family. Funeral Director Recommendation - Star of David Memorial Chapels First, If you find it too painful and uncomfortable to think and talk of such things - I apologize - But for those that are interested I invite you to read on. As you can imagine, I was very recently confronted with the task I had dreaded and feared for years - planning my mothers funeral. And while it is overwhelming sad to loose a parent - it was the inevitable end to a happy, well lived life, as she lived to the ripe old age of 98+, living in her own home to the end, never a burden to anyone. My mother wanted a modest reformed Jewish burial. Lucky for me, as she already had a fully paid plot at Pinelawn - where she would be joining my Christian father whom died 18 years prior. I want to report my overwhelming positive experience in selecting Star of David, to help me with executing my mothers final wishes. As here's why. My director Kevin Gray was beyond fabulous, and made the experience as comfortable as such an experience could be. All pricing is clearly published in advance on the website - so I knew in advance - exactly what decisions I would be asked to make - and how much they would cost if chosen. My pricing included everything, including the arranging and paying the one time costs to Pinelawn to open my father's grave for this second internment. They were also able to arrange for a Rabbi - whom provided a dignified, thoughtful service for a person he did not know. Without going into the actual specifics of our choices - suffice to say - an appropriate modest Jewish burial cost us about 13,000. It would be perhaps significantly more - if you were also faced with having to purchase a plot. Again, I highly recommend Star of David, and one of their directors, Kevin Gray.
Trusting, Respectful, and an overall great experience! Andy Novak, Kevin and all the staff were just amazing in helping deal with the loss of my adored Mom Toby in May 2019. Andy was absolutely amazing and a pleasure to deal with. He guided us every step of the way and was available via phone at any time for any question..and I had lots. There were no hidden fees as he laid out everything in detail up front. He was very compassionate, comforting and a true professional. We had the service in the Waters Chapel which is absolutely beautiful and peaceful. Our own Rabbi cancelled on us a couple days before and Andy was able to get us a great Rabbi with no issue. Everything fell into place and Star of David came through in every aspect. I had set up the funeral arrangements a couple weeks before my Mom passed which was the best thing to do. It would have been much tougher if we had done it after the fact. Thanks again Andy and team at Star of David! My Mom would be proud and she was right to pick your establishment months before she passed.
Kevin Gray and Star of David Chapel were amazing at helping my family to fulfill my father's final wishes. My father had a New York State PrePlan originally setup with a different funeral home that went out of business. Kevin reviewed the PrePlan and agreed to fulfill my father's wishes without any additional charges. He and his team ensured this process was easy and simple as possible while providing my family with flexibility to make any adjustments needed. I cannot say enough about how great and professional Kevin and his team are and I would recommend their services anytime - Thank you Kevin!
My father passed on March 26, and I needed a funeral home that would take care of all the arrangements. My mother in law found Star of David, and Kevin Gray was kind, understanding and so helpful during this stressful and sad time. He took care of everything, and when I went there today to pick up dad's remains and paperwork, we finally got to meet. He and Christine were so friendly, and they made the entire experience pleasant. Thank you for everything.
While I hope we never have to see them again, Kevin and Andy were the consummate professionals in handling our beloved fathers funeral. There were unforeseen circumstances and clerical issues not their fault but rather the hospitals fault yet Kevin and Andy assisted us with everything. If you are reading this, you are probably doing so for a reason...therefor I offer you my condolences and highly recommend that you put your trust in Star of David Memorial Chapel. The service was perfect and we are so glad we chose Kevin and Andy. Thank you both very much!
I cannot thank Andy Novak and the entire staff of Star of David enough for the kindness and compassion they showed throughout all my dealings with them. Every detail of the pre-planning arranged several years ago was carried out on the day of my 105 year old Mom's funeral. Alone in the chapel on that day due to COVID concerns, I was treated with the utmost caring and respect and the drive to the NJ cemetery served to relax me thanks to the friendliness of the driver. Weeks later, Kevin Gray was most helpful when I called for some guidance in choosing a monument company. Star of David did everything possible to ease the pain and stress during a most difficult time.
Andy Novak and the staff of the Star of David Memorial Chapel were very kind and caring during the whole process of planning and having my husband's funeral. Andy's professionalism and kindness made the whole experience easy as it could be under the circumstances. The whole family is grateful to him and his staff. I highly recommend Star of David to anyone who is in need of Jewish funeral services.
My family used Star of David for both my father's and my grandmother's funerals in the past 7 years. We were pleased with their knowledgeable and professional staff, who were able to expertly guide us in our time of sorrow. Recently my mother and I were having an unrelated conversation about how often we have negative customer-service experiences with different companies, and she countered that Star of David was the only exception she could think of where she had nothing but good things to say! When you're grieving a loved one, that's especially important.
