We purchased my daughters dress there last year and at first, I was irritated about the $25 charge to try on unlimited # of dresses this year. It used to be you tried on three dresses, picked out three more and went to the back of the line. However, there was always a lot of chaos and you didn’t really have any personalized attention to ask questions. They have such a good selection that we knew we would be purchasing a dress there so once I knew that the $25 would go back towards our purchase I went ahead and scheduled my daughter an appt. and paid the $25 for the VIP club. I am SO glad that I did! Ainsley and Marie were amazing and Ainsley would go get dresses for my daughter once she described what she was wanting. She ended up finding the perfect dress that we wouldn’t have even had my daughter try on! Both Ainsley and Marie were full of energy and enthusiasm for their job! They were superb to say the least and some of perks of the VIP plan was a more private fitting room with seats for moms and first priority to go out and stand on the platform in front of the large mirrors not to mention this week with your purchase you get a palette of Kylie’s Jenner’s eyeshadow! I would definitely recommend paying the $25 and be treated like a princess!
Was surprised by the $25 fee to try on more than three dresses. I mean do they want to sell me a dress or not! My daughter did find a dress she liked - only because one salesperson in the store actually cared. We had to order it in the color she wanted. Was told it would take 8-10 business days- 23 business days later the dress came in. Turned out it was on backorder for 17 of those days and no one bothered to call us to tell us, even after I called twice to see if the dress was in! Dress arrived 10 days before prom - barely enough time to finish alterations! They seemed to care less! I have spent far less on something and been treated much better! We will not be returning next prom season!
Stopped in to check out their dress selection and was shocked by the limit of trying on 3 dresses! If you would like to try on more than three, there is a $25 “membership fee”! I have been to more upscale prom dress shops and have never been charged to try on more than 3 dresses. Sales people were not overly attentive either. Disappointed with the entire experience!
It was a very beautiful place. My mom and I came in to shop for my prom dress this afternoon. When we entered, we were greeted very nicely by what I can say was the owner. She told us up front about the $25 charge after trying on three dresses. I was very awed by the place when I walked in. I loved how homey it felt. But, the only reason I am giving it three stars would be because when I walked into the dressing room, I felt very judged by the workers inside. When I walked in I was told that they would help me zip up my dress, since my mom wasn’t able to come in with me. I stand there for a couple of minutes waiting on someone to help me and they weren’t busy at all. I just felt very out of place. It felt like since I was wearing comfortable clothes because I knew I would have to take them off and on I didn’t want to wear something hard to get off that they thought I wasn’t worthy to be there. The girls in the dressing room were helping this lady find her prom dress and were very engaged on just her. Once I would walk out, I felt very judged based off their looks that they exchanges with me and the way they talked to me. Don’t get me wrong, they seems like very loving people but it would have been nice to feel like I belonged there and that I looked beautiful in every dress I tried on. Other than that, I had a fairly decent visit.
Very friendly and helpful staff! Large selection of dresses! Competitive prices! I enjoyed taking my daughter prom dress shopping here and plan to return in the years to come. We have been to other stores with the not-so-friendly staff and that is a complete turnoff! Everyone at Stephen's were smiling and just enjoying the busy Saturday.
Was there twice this weekend and was extremely pleased with the help we got. Staff was nice and polite and very helpful. Brought my daughter's best friend in to find a dress. She found 2 she loved but needed a size bigger. One of the dresses they had no more of and the other the employee is going to call on. Which she is going above and beyond to help. Thank you so much!!!!!
My daughter had an amazing time here yesterday.. After driving 3 hrs we stopped at this shop because the original place we went to had my daughter in tears..She was able to find so many dresses in her size the staff was very nice and went out of there way to help my daughter find a beautiful dress that was 50% off! I regretfully didnt get the name of the ladies that help us they were wonderful!!! Wished they was not closing would love to come back..thank you for all the kindness you should my daughter!!
Was excited to go prom dress shopping with my daughter as we have been looking forward to it for a long time . MANY instructions were given upon entering the store, we were herded into one room which let us touch and see just a few of the dresses without bags over them, were told that we could try on three dresses, we entered the second room where all dresses were in clunky plastic bags and looked very different from the first room. We asked a sales associate to remove a dress from a mannequin and she seemed so baffled and told us we couldn't do that. my daughter tried on all three and I approached a different sales associate to see if we could try on a fourth, that's when I was told "Only if you pay $25 for the VIP fee." We then left the store and fled to Macy's where we found a dress for half the price in 20-30 minutes. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME. Even Saks fifth Avenue let her try on more dresses than that for NOTHING. Sincerely, a customer hoping Stephen's gets a little more class and drops that absurd charge
Stephen's Prom and Beyond is A M A Z I N G! My step-daughter flew up from Florida so I could take her shopping for her prom gown. We only had two days to shop so we started our quest from Bloomington at Stephen's because they were the first shop to open. 10 am! As soon as we walked in we were welcomed by the lovely staff. It took no time for my step-daughter to start trying on dresses. The dresses are so well organized and easy to shop. They are organized by size and color so picking out dresses is quick and easy. She tried on a number of dresses, but it only took a few for her to find two that she was IN LOVE WITH! But we had to go and check out other stores to be certain. We went to two other stores in Indy one was AWFUL and the second store had a really helpful staff, but not a very good selection, both were a bit pricey. Within a few hours we found ourselves back at Stephen's! My step-daughter got her "vision" dress for prom. Not only was the dress half of our budget but Stephen's also offered a military discount which my family really appreciated! I 100% recommend Stephen's. They are amazing and their prices are extremely affordable and the quality of the dresses are fantastic. They have a large selection of dresses for all shapes and sizes! Thanks Stephen's for helping us find the perfect dress and for helping us make perfect memories!
*editing to respond to owner* While it is unfortunate that there was a family emergency, we were the only ones there at the time of entrance, aside from the four workers. Another pair of girls walked in after a few minutes, very distasteful to fib. Thank you! I am in awe of the lackluster customer service we received tonight. My sister is going to her first prom and my mom and I were excited to shop around with her. For one, we didn’t receive any actual assistance while shopping. For two, when we were sent into the dressing room my sister was holding four dresses, the associate said “okay you can try on three!” And grabbed a random one to hang on the rack outside of the room, so we all assumed she meant three at a time given that she didn’t let her pick which dress “waited” outside of the dressing room. As we were on our way out, my sister found another dress that she loved. It was on a mannequin, so we asked if she could try it on. The associate literally blurted “well did you try on three? It’s a $25 donation after that.” Had we known of this rule, my sister would’ve been more selective as to which dresses she tried on. Conversely, it is not like my sister had tried on nor wanted to try on an excessive amount of dresses. Thus far, this was by far the worst experience- actually, the only negative experience, of her prom dress search. We will be sure to pass the word along. Thank you!
