Sterling State Park in the United States is the only Michigan state park located on the shores of Lake Erie. The park encompasses 2.03 mi² (5.26 km²) just northeast of Monroe, Michigan in Frenchtown Charter Township in Monroe County. The park was established in 1920. The park sits just north of where the River Raisin empties into Lake Erie. The park is located just south of Sandy Creek and the community of Detroit Beach. The park is located less than a mile from Interstate 75, which provides easy access from the neighboring areas of Detroit, Toledo, and Windsor. The main attractions at the park include the beach, a boat launch, and shore fishing. There are over six miles (9.66 km) of biking and hiking trails within the park.

Love this place that's all there is to it. The campground side is amazing. The beach there is beautiful. Shallow so less fear and more fun for kids to think they're cool going far out lol. I wish boats and jet skis had a restriction on coming to the beach and anchoring. It's not safe. It's annoying.... Or maybe designated area they can tie off vs just riding up into everyone and everything  Playground: Could use some updating but the soft turf type ground is nice that it&#39;s on. On the campground side that is.  Restrooms: Very very clean and always being cleaned at the campground side. The beach side is clean but also a little harder to keep up with due to so much traffic  Dog-friendliness: Allowed at the campground. Not on the beaches which I understand but it would allowed if people just had enough respect to clean up after their animals  Picnic area: There&#39;s pavilions and tables everywhere. Be cool if the pavilion shelter ran along closer to the beach

The park is spacious, plenty of area to explore. Large parking area. Plenty of bathrooms. Pavilions with picnic tables and grill areas. Large beach front, great for swimming and a peir I saw people fishing off of although it's a bit rocky on that end, much more rugged, not for small kids. I was thrilled to find some neat fish bones, shells and beach glass and a little baby turtle!

We’ve enjoyed visiting and biking the trails for many many years here. The lake is beautiful, the campground and beach are nice, but the bike trail could really use an upgrade. We haven’t biked there in a couple years because the trail is just too bumpy in many areas to be enjoyable now. One section was closed due to deterioration and don’t know if that’s ever been fixed yet, since we stopped biking there. Hopefully they will repair the bad sections sometime soon, in the meantime will just enjoy the lake views.

Don't let the smoke stacks cloud your judgment of this park.  It has so much to offer!  Miles of scenic trails for birdwatching, running, walking and biking.  The trails I hear will be getting some much needed work to ensure a safe and smooth  trek.  There are many fishing piers and access points to kayak the waters in and around the park.  For Boat Nerds, you can watch great lake freighters out on the horizon.  If you're lucky, you may see them pulling into the River Raisin just south of the park.  The sunrises and sunsets are gorgeous and beautiful and the pops of color are amazing.  If I have on complaint, it's the human factor on the Beach.  Please don't litter.  There are many garbage receptacles.  We can do better.

I don't know what these negative reviews are talking about! This beach is one of the nicest public beaches on Lake Erie in this area. The beach was trash free and looked like they has just raked the sand.  It does have some trees a long the north end of the beach that hAve exposed roots. Just watch were you step and you will be fine. The exposed roots are neat to see. You can get around them and enjoy the beach.  The south end of the beAch area however is all sand.  When we were there it didn't smell of rotting fish and we didn't see any either. We loved this beach. The camping area did look nice as well and they have several cabins for rent.

This state campground has some full hook up sites. Campground is clean and the camp host was receptive when we told here there was standing water by our water spigot possibly indicating a leak. It’s nice to be able to explore the beach on Lake Erie but wear your shoes as there are dead fish, shells, branches, and garbage. There is a paved, 4 mile trail which circles some lagoons.

Really pretty park. Boat ramp access, camping area, and lots of places to fish, seen some guys catch bass on the first cast. Beautiful wildlife! Unfortunately, we spotted a goose wobbling with fishing line on his leg, we tried to catch him but couldn't. We notified the guys at the front, hopefully they will help. !!!!Don't be a bum clean up after yourself!!!!!

If you’re looking to enjoy possibly the best spot Monroe has to offer for viewing the sunrise, this is your place! It’s a little early roughly 6am in the summertime but this beach provides a PERFECT viewing spot to watch the sun come over the horizon.

Not the biggest beach, but there is plenty of parking and a big swimming area. Ample grills to cook if you want to make a day of it. There is also a fishing area, boat launch, campground and trails, if you enjoy any of those activities. If you are in the area and want to get back to nature, definitely give it a shot.

The beach is not the soft sand kind of beach, but it is a great place to see the sunrise over lake Erie. There are many trails to walk around or ride your bike. There is a large grassy area by the sand to have games and picnics. The boat launch is easily accessible and many people come here to fish.
