Not my cup of tea. I had a full hookup but the space was tiny and it was a tight fit. The 5th wheel park next to me had the slide out open and I could reach out and touch it from my top step. WiFi was up/down with poor signal and there is no cell service. There are many humming birds feeders and humming birds in the park but this also attracts bears at night. It is a pretty area though. However, I definitely won't be back to this spot though. I would much rather have more space between the next RV.
It is a bit run down and the power pedestal where my RV was parked had the wiring loose above ground and the pedestal itself was about to fall over. We called ahead and said we were going to be later than expected, about 8: 30pm and they said no problem we'll be here till 9:00. We got there at 8:15 and no one was around to tell us our spot was. It's poorly lit but thanks to some other patrons of the park we found our spot. Water pressure is really low but usable. I understand they are now under new ownership and hope they correct the code issues and maybe add some lighting. Food & drinks: Decent restaurant on the property, I recommend.
We stayed in an RV spot at Stonewall Lodge. Has spotty cell reception but good wifi if needed. Good store and restaurant.Service: 5/5
Very poor stay for us, the roof leaked during a rain storm also the mattress was so worn out you rolled to middle made a very uncomfortable rest or no rest and only one coffee cup and very few utensils. I will make different arrangements next time. Rooms: Enough said.
We stayed from May 20-May 26, 2023. This has always been one of my favorite places to stay since I was 6 years old and now, I am 63. We really enjoyed our stay. The service was not very good but to be fair the day we arrived the former owner for the last 7 years was completing the sale to a new owner. There was a new reservation and register in use and some confusion as to the new owner's management. The new owner purchased the Stonewall Lodge and RV Park and the Shopping Bag Store and Cafe. It was a bit hectic and we arrived the week before the Memorial Day weekend which is the big kickoff for the summer in Weston, Stonewall, Lake Monument, North Lake, Cuchara and La Veta Colorado. It rained the whole time we were there but still enjoyed fishing at Lake Monument. My wife and I had the Lakes pretty much to ourselves as well as the resort. The Cafe was opened only 3 days while we were there and only from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 pm. I caught several Rainbow trout at 21 inches, 16 inches and 14 1/2 inches. I released 7 or 8 that were between 12 to 13 inches. I fished for 3 days as Lake Monument is only 4.1 miles from the Stonewall Lodge and RV park. We saw a large herd of Elk, 30 to 40 deer at the Lodge, and even a baby black bear who crossed the road at night on our way back from eating at the Dog Bar in Cuchara about a 20 min drive from Stonewall. This is a must-visit place to eat and the small town of Cuchara is just beautiful. If you head there before dark you can see some of the burn scars remains from the 2018 Spring Creek Fire. Which is very sad. I am sure that before the summer is over things will get back to normal at the Stonewall Lodge and RV Park. We were able to say goodbye to the former owners who have provided a wonderful experience over the last 7 years. I have known several of the owners since my youth and this place has remained a wonderful experience for me since I was a young Child. We will be back. We plan to return in Late September 2023 if all goes well and the new owner does not change things too much. You should also check out the Pickett Wire store. They have Texas Style BBQ Bill and Tina Hallmark are the owners and it is the only place you can buy beer if that is what you like. The Stonewall Lodge is no longer going to sell Ice, or beer by the six-pack. Only by the bottle. So be ready that we are not big drinkers so no big deal for us. You will enjoy your stay...Don't miss out on this secret gem in Colorado. Rooms: Rooms are cozy and nicely heated, not super luxurious by any means but clean. The Durango is more updated. This is the room where we stayed. Nearby activities: Lake Monument, North Lake, Cordova Pass, Cuchara, and La Veta are all up the road on Highway 12. The Elk herd to the north of Highway 12 is a must-see. Check with the Middle Fork Resort they have the best details about 100 yards to the left before you get to the Stonewall Lodge and Resort. Blue Lake and Bear Lake Before you get to Cuchara however they are closed due to a massive storm back in April and remain closed through at least July 2023. According to the game warden. Walkability: Very walkability Be careful at night there are plenty of bears in the area. Do not put trash in non-bear trash bins. Noteworthy details: Super quite especially if you go before the peak season or toward the end of the season. This is very beautiful. I hope they continue the bonfire in the evenings, this was not an option while we were there. There was not a manager on duty and we assumed it was because the place was sold the week, we were We got locked out of our cabin and had to get the old owner to call the Lake Monument Manager to let us in it took him about 12 minutes to drive to Stonewall to let us back into our room. The new owner of the Stonewall Lodge and RV Park and The Shopping Bag Store and cafe also owns the lease to the Restaurant, Cabins, Hotel Rv and Tent Spots, Boats Baith Shop, and Store. Thank God he was able to get us into the Room we took our dogs out to do their business and locked ourselves out. It was about 10:30 pm and it was pretty cold. I would make sure they have a 24-hour onsite manager but that part was very unprofessional and there was not a good exit or transfer of responsibility, that part was a huge disappointment. So I would make sure this gets fixed before I would stay there again
RV Park is great. Friendly and helpful staff. Safe place to stay. Great views.Service: 5/5
Location is wonderful, lots of lakes close by and wildlife rafting is because the cabin was filthy! The floor has not been swept in awhile the shower tile grout was dirty, the stove burners had old burned food in them. The beds are very uncomfortable and the brown sheets must have been washed with white towels because there was lint and white dog hair on them. I love this area but will stay elsewhere in the future.
Stayed over night on way home, was a great place to rest with great view of stonewall. My son had a great time on playground including basketball court, all seen from site. We will definitely be backRV sites are full hook up and well maintained.Service: 5/5
