We are the Grenadier Group, operators of the historic Sunnyside Pavilion and Café located on the waterfront in Toronto's Western Beaches
The Grenadier Group began its relationship with the City of Toronto in 1981, when John Caragianakos took over the operations of the Grenadier Restaurant in High Park. Since then, the Caragianakos family has provided uninterrupted management of the restaurant and has expanded its operations to include other concessions in the park as well as Sunnyside Pavilion and Café.
While the Grenadier Group has grown significantly in the past 30+ years, it has never forgotten the importance of its community roots, investing in community facilities and infrastructure in the Western Beaches and playing an active leadership roles in many community-based organizations.
The Grenadier Group is primarily a food service provider whose mission is to provide the public with a variety of healthy food choices at fair and reasonable prices.
Respectful of its role as a maintainer and mediator of a public trust between its municipal partner and the public, its desire is to illustrate the efficacy of establishing and allowing public and private partnerships to flourish so as to aid in fulfilling the mandates of the respective partners.
Its vision is to establish, provide and enhance urban recreational activity choices within an operating model that combines the use of publicly owned recreational park space, the pursuit of leisurely park-based activities with relevant food and beverage choices.
