Great service for a Friday night. Pay attention to peak time, as there is very little seating inside. Only ONE toilet. We ordered the fish and chips, which was hearty, light ,and very flavorful. Chips weren't very salty! That was nice. The fish was made in-house, and it showed! So delicious. We also shared the key lime pie. Not fresh or 'homemade'- I would try something else next time.
Came for supper and everything was delicious. Service was good. Very cozy atmosphere. Fish and Chips, Chicken Strips and Fries, Sunnyside Burger, happy Hour Nachos.
What a hidden gem in the Tenderloin! I've passed by it a few times on my way to Huntington Park and thought the menu sounded tasty and diverse enough to try. I stopped in on a Friday night and was surprised by how a small it was on the inside. There's hardly any room between the bar and the tables, so it makes walking to the bathroom a bit of a hassle so, if you or someone in your party has accessibility needs, I wouldn't recommend it - they do have some outdoor seating though! But besides that, the ambience inside is cozy, warm, and friendly. They have four TVs and have a decent variety in subscriptions - of course, you'll be able to watch any and every San Francisco/Bay Area team whenever they're playing. The first time, I split a chicken sandwich and the quesadilla, and I was especially surprised by how tasty the quesadilla was! Not spicy in the slightest, but it was packed with mouthwatering flavor and had a good amount of chicken and cheese nestled inside. It also comes with a generous portion of avocado, sour cream, and salsa. The chicken sandwich was juicy, and the sweet potato fries went well with sides of ranch and BBQ sauce fair warning: they do charge for additional condiments outside of ketchup and hot sauce! I'm not much of a drinker, but I was curious about the Soju cocktails. My friend had the Bloody Mary and I had the Lemon Drop. The Lemon Drop really just tasted like a tangy lemonade with lemon sugar around the glass - and that's a good thing! The soju went down smooth, and my friend liked the Bloody Mary so much, she got another! The next time I stopped by, I had the shepherd's pie, which was just a bit of a let down. The presentation was great and I loved the layer of mashed potatoes before the pie. However, it was a bit bland - needed to add some salt and pepper to really bring the flavor out of on the beef and veggies. Still, it was a comforting meal on a chilly Saturday afternoon, so it did it's job fine. Definitely recommend if you're looking for pubs around the Tenderloin that has great food, exceptional cocktails, and a nice, cozy ambience.
I have traveled all over North America and Europe and this ranks as my favorite pub. It only seats about 40 people, but it's got to be one of the friendliest places with the warmest atmosphere I've ever been to. To. You can't go wrong with any food selection. Great choices on tap. Incredibly warm and friendly service. It's got an amazing ambiance. I've been to Cheers the won the TV show is modeled after Thank you in Boston and this place beats it.
We walked by and decided to try the Sutter Pub & Restaurant on a Monday evening. The pub was about half full when we arrived around 6:30pm and stayed that way for the duration of our stay of about two and a half hours. The interior of the pub is very genuine and quite nice for a pub like this. It has several TV screens for those that enjoy watching sports. The bar counter is nice and high with high chairs for patrons that prefer sitting at the bar. There is only one booth in the bar, and then a number of tables and chairs along the walls of the bar. The booth is located next to the bathroom, which might be a bit challenging if you are seated at the both on an evening with many guests. The ceiling is very tall, but the sound level in the pub is somehow not suffering as a result, as least not on a weekday evening. The pub has an excellent beer selection with many draft beer options, and even more on bottles and cans. We tried a number of different beers and enjoyed having such a wide variety of choices. You an find anything from a lager to a wheat beer, or an IPA or gose. We were impressed by the wide range of options. The menu is typical for a pub like this, with all the dishes you would expect in a pub. We tried fried chicken, fish and chips, tacos, and burgers. The burger was cooked perfectly to order, the fish and chips were very good, and so were the tacos and fried chicken. We were positively surprised by the quality of the food at the Sutter Pub & Restaurant. The food was served pretty quickly after ordering, and we didn‘t feel like we experienced a long wait. The staff was amazing. Extremely friendly and helpful, and also making recommendations as needed. Our waitress was very attentive and made us feel welcome and appreciated, even if this was our first visit. With service like that, and with such a big beer selection and good food, we will definitely come back to Sutter Pub and Restaurant. Ambience: 4/5 Staff: 5/5 Food: 4/5 Beer selection: 5/5 Price/quality: 4/5 average prices, but very good quality
Generally, the food was very good, but a couple of bites of corned beef were a touch gamey. I've had the bangers and mash in the past, and it was excellent. Service was great, and the pub style is quite unique.Food: 4/5
The food was really great here! I went twice while visiting the area, cute and clean place, the fries and sandwiches are great, the Mac and cheese was great, everyone working was incredibly friendly, the beer is great. Wasn’t too crowded either time I went, although it of course picks up a bit once happy hour starts. The california chicken sandwich was probably my favorite, and again their fries were amazing.
Calamari, Pesto Ailoli sauce and fries were very nice! Wouldn’t recommend mac and cheese as it’s quite basic. Atmosphere and service are well.
We were going to have dinner here, but got tired, so order it to go. While waiting, sat at the bar and had a great cider in a very lively atmosphere. Food didn't take too long, so had to slam the rest of the cider and was on my way. For take out, all of the fried food was still crisp by the time we ate it which was surprising. Great fish and chips, not overly battered and full of flavor.
We've walked by this place so many times and finally decided to stop in to grab something to eat. It was a weekend so I decided to order the corned beef hash Benedict and my husband ordered a burger. It was okay. The hash was good but the hollandaise sauce was a bit salty and not balanced. Though I really didn't have high expectations when I decided to order a brunch dish from a pub. Cute little place.
