The Actor's Gym was started in 1978 when Bobby and a group of friends realized they had outgrown their acting classes but still needed a space to work their craft each week and become better artists. This organic idea cultivated itself into a safe place for actors to take risks on stage and has lasted over 30 years on both coasts.
At The Actor's Gym, because there is no teacher, it is the responsibility of the artist to know what they need to work on in order to grow, to push themselves to get to places they might not otherwise go.
It is an open forum discussion group, at the end of every piece of work it is the artist's choice whether or not they would like feedback from the group. The moderator will always ensure the feedback is constructive, but it is the artist's responsibility to take the feedback that is helpful and leave behind the feedback that is not.
In all three sessions there is one mandate that is closely followed: "When you step on stage, leave a piece of your soul behind; when you give feedback, try and help."
