Had no idea a place like this existed but it was such a unique experience. The live birds weren't out because of the weather so I hope to go back when it's cooler just to see them. I'd definitely recommend this if you're looking for something indoor and unique to do. Museum is accessible and good for all ages.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
Great little museum. Had no particular interests in pigeons but decided to check it out and I’m glad we did! Lots to learn about: racing pigeons, messenger pigeons used in battle, show pigeons. The curator working the museum was very friendly and knowledgeable and a total pigeon nerd. She’s awesome!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
Okay, so you think who would want to visit a pigeon museum. I asked the same question. It was excellent. There is a lot more to pigeons than a gray scavenger that you see on city streets. The displays teach a lot about the pigeon. The military used them in war. Businesses used them to communicate between offices. There are racing pigeons and fancy pigeons. There are so many different pigeons. The curator at the front desk was very knowledgeable and was excellent at answering questions. There were live pigeons of all different varieties that all looked completely different. Who knew there was so much to pigeons. This museum is worth visiting.
There’s a lot to learn about a simple bird. This museum is small, but jam packed with information and knowledge. My wife and I went there for our anniversary. It was worth the trip. On top of that, we got to pet some of the pigeons they had. Thankfully the birds were kept indoors and away from the heat.
Absolutely amazing! You can learn so much about the history of pigeons dating back thousands of years ago up to now. I was excited to see the Passenger Pigeon on display as well. There is so many different works of art, sculptures, and taxidermy. The library is full of historic information and diaries. The artifacts are super cool to view. This is definitely a great place to visit and even spend some time reading the books, I highly recommend visiting here and of course getting to meet with the live pigeons. They're so soo cute
This place was small and only a few rooms. But the information on the history about pigeons and how they were used in delivering news is very detailed in the museum. Got to learn so much about these beautiful birds. They even have some on display to talk too. But stay far away from slappy. He isn't very nice.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree

The American Pigeon Museum is a wonderful place to visit. It's free admission though I highly encourage donating if you visit for a brief and very well curated experience. The museum is clean, brightly lit, and well organized into just three major rooms, but it documents a lot of important moments in the history of this surprisingly influential bird. While it feels tucked away in the woods, it's a very short ways from the science museum if you're trying to assemble an education day.
This was an unexpected gem in Oklahoma City. We thoroughly enjoyed learning about the history of pigeons. I would definitely recommend this museum to anybody who is a war buff, nature enthusiast, or history fan. The only thing that I would change would be better caging and display of the live pigeons. The tiny cages sitting out against the building in direct sunlight did not seem adequate.
I've been wanting to come here for months but as they are only open on Friday and Saturday it's been hard with scheduling to actually get the chance to come down here. Was finally able to come and boy was it amazing. I absolutely love pigeons and being able to learn about their amazing history and petting the live pigeons was the most amazing experience I've ever had. Will definitely come back next time I get the chance.
