Quiet vibe as dedicated climbing experts mixed with novice climbers respectfully took turns. I was impressed by how focused everyone in the gym was. The staff was friendly. The monthly cost is extremely high for the average person. You need to climb 5 times in the month to get your money's worth. The gym has repelling, bouldering , spin classes, weight training and a restaurant.
facilities had it all, and staff was helpful. grading felt a bit soft. was by far the most i’ve spent on a day pass at $35.00 - which is even more than ny prices! if you primarily boulder and mind about price def go to SLC bouldering project. if you want to spend hours top roping, bouldering, and chilling out than you’ll enjoy if here.
Nice gym when you first walk in it doesn’t seem like much then if you wander around there’s tons to do and see. They have autobelays, lead climbing, top rope, a good amount of bouldering, and tall walls. There is also a good gym area with lots of workout equipment and space and an additional training area with tons of moon boards and hang boards that is very nice if you’re serious about training. They have a wide selection of merchandise and the front desk was nice. The cafe is perfect for working and hanging out while watching climbing. It even looked like they have indoor bike racks and additional outdoor spaces, but I couldn’t quite tell. Overall this gym has everything you need especially if you’re a serious climber.
A really incredible gym that is definitely worth it's day pass/ membership price. It has unusually tall lead and top rope walls and a good variety of wall angles, sadly no roofs though. Boulder sets were creative and challenging! Aside from the climbing, there is a beautiful courtyard, weightlifting and yoga studios, kilter and moon boards and plenty of cardio equipment. The top floor also has a cafe that serves beer and has some nice mountain views. Great gym and overall space.
Staff is friendly and helpful while maintaining safety. Facility is well structured. This place reinforces the reputation of Salt Lake City being a hub for rock climbing.
Would be great if they had other ways of notifying members entire sections of climbing would be closed for a 'test the holds' comp. SMS? App notifications? Emails with obvious UPCOMING WALL CLOSURES Subject Lines? Sucks to find out after you've driven for 30 minutes to get there.
They stole money during COVID shut down. My partner paid for many months of membership while they were closed during COVID, they just continued to charge him even when they had their facilities closed. They won't do a refund when they failed to provide service. Also way too expensive for couples. They only offer 9 dollars off the total price for couples. Bring it from $198 to $189 a month. Might as well not even offer a couples "deal" at that price anymore, they used to offer a better couples deal.
I walk in when I drop off my three children. The staff seem to be on top of the exchange of Children/Students coming in and going out. It's refreshing to see that level of oversight at this place of business. My children love going here too. A testament to the staff. They are AWESOME!
Great climbing gym and health club, great community. Tons of bouldering in the old building and on the new side, huge top rope and lead walls as well as the gym and training areas in the new building. Since the new construction is well, still pretty new, the place has been constantly evolving since I joined in late 2016, with the new yoga studios on the 3rd floor having opened and the new kids/teaching walls also on the 3rd floor now available. Just last week on the Summer Solstice the central outdoor "park" area was opened with benches and tables to sit and relax. I've found the staff and the community to be very friendly and the vibe is great, though I will say that as others have mentioned the place can be a little intimidating at first or for the novice. Partly because it's so big and probably partly because the level of the climbers is so high. It's truly a world class climbing gym, and I love that, but at first can cause some serious "gymtimidation". My recommendation if you're just starting out and you've joined is to take the Bouldering 101 class, it's a great intro to technique and a good all around orientation. Finally the kids programs and Summer camps are great... my son has been in the after school program before and taken 3 different Summer camp sessions the past 2 Summers, he's loved them and he really likes his instructors. With the new 3rd floor area open this year they really have a nice spot for the kids now.
PARENTS, if you ever consider their kids summer camp -DON'T GO! RUN AWAY FROM THIS PlACE.This is the most horrible camp experience my kids ever had. 1. NO SAFETY MEASURE. The camp coach won't start the session or supervise the kids for at least 30 mins into the session while all the kids climb on the wall. They let the kids out at least 10 mins early before the session. No one was actively watching the kids during these times. And later when we complained, they call this unsupervised camp time "WARM UPS" They made you sign all these forms so they are clean and clear out of any possible responsibilities even when they are the ones that cause the issue the first place. Oh, after they let the kids out 10 mins before, my kids wanted to go up to the bouldering area, guess what, a staff immidiately came by and told us if we want to climb some more, we need to buy a DAY PASS this is all within the camp time 2. EXTREME RUDE even RACIST STAFF. If you are a person of color, don't go here, ever! My kids were picked on the entire time they were in the camp and were accused "stealing snacks" and "fighting all day long" which later we confirmed non of these things happened. And seriously, who accuse kids "stealing snacks'?!!!! How penny pinching can this place be if they can't even give out enough snacks for kids and then accuse them stealing?!!! And when we asked for video proof shows the so called stealing, they refused. And we two moms were cornered by their two managers and were threatened. 3. NO INTEGRITY WHATSOEVER. We ended up calling the cops on this place because how unsafe we felt. They were scared and then tried to get us out of the place. They told us they would give my kids refund for the camp if we go to the front desk. The moment we got to the front desk, the manager told us to "manage the refund another day" and when we left the building, the manager told us 'NO REFUND". By the way, all of these were recorded as I was calling 911 and of course when the cop showed up, the manager denied all of these statements. 4. POOR CLASS STRUCTURE. The instructors care nothing about the kids development. Most of the male instructors were just sitting on the bench and instruct kids run around to play games. They are there to babysitcan't even do that well since my kid were severely injured after the second class -non of the coaches said a thing not to teach. Overall, this is an extremely unsafe place for kids to be, RUN AWAY from this terrible, rude, racist and unethical business.
