This place had so many interactive areas for kids to explore and learn. If its your first time, suggest to your kids to tour the entire facility and then pick out a few of the most interesting activities to start with. Plan on spending at least 2-3 hours exploring. The place was packed when we arrived at about 11am, but it started to clear out some by 2 pm. The entrance was in an odd place. You had to go around the back of the building and walk and walk all the way to the front. We were in town for only a short time, but it was still a great experience for my grandkids, ages 8 and 6. I wish adult entry was half the price of the admission; the adults are just the supervisors of the kids.
Beautiful place and must visit if you have young kids. Lots of things to learn and if the kids love it, a day is not enough. Visit early and allow the kids to explore all the activities. Observe what they enjoy the most. Watch their curiosity and capture the moments.
Highly recommend! Especially for those up to age 8 or 9. So much variety of activities. They also have a quiet room that allows an area to take a calming break if needed or a private area for nursing. My grandson loved all of the activities. Great staff. We could have stayed all day. They have a cafe but there are also good food choices close, so you can take a break and come back.
This children's museum is one of the best in the country. The facility is immaculate thanks to a large cleanup staff. The three floors are filled with entertaining and interactive exhibits. There are a number of arts and crafts activities. There is even an outdoor area with a sandy play beach. The facility has both a cafeteria and a gift shop. It has sufficient parking. If you have a young one between 4-9 this is a must see! Price for entry: $14.00 Ticket type: Only one type of ticket for general admission
I took my granddaughters, ages 8&11. Going for the first time felt like a free for all because there's no clear order to the 3 floors. However we quickly realize that the 3 floors are made up of several themed centers. The majority of the centers are geared toward younger children, maybe 8 years and younger. On the bottom floor they have the stem center which houses all the centers more appropriate for 8+. If you want to feel like you got your money's worth for older kids that's the area to go to! I think it would be great if they could expand on that and the water center for older kids.
We could have spent a week here. The magic house keeps evolving and gets better every time. I liked seeing so many staff members available and keeping order. My daughter loved the veterinarian area. My son and his friend were crazy about the Stl City area. I loved the garden and the senses room. I could name so many more. A+ experience.
The Magic House is a larger version of our children's museum in Evansville - cMoe. It's great for hands-on experimentation for kids of all ages. We worked on dexterity with our fingers using geared wheels, pouring sand, and blowing bubbles. We solved the power outage problem by connecting the electricity back to the grid in a pretend city. We also completed circuits to make lights turn on, gears turn, horns blare. The electrical area also included math to figure out the exact amount of power from various sources solar, wind, natural gas, coal, nuclear, etc. and which sources were the most efficient. We also climbed a very large beanstalk, which helped build problem solving skills and muscle strength. We played in a real garden on the roof. We fished for magnetic "fish" and released them upstream. We also used pneumatic tools for mechanical advantages. After 3 hours, we still didn't come close to exploring all that the magic house had to offer. The only concern I have is several of the stations weren't working or broken. Kids will be kids I suppose.
Looking for a venue for your next event or wedding? Check out the Magic House! There are so many cool things to do and discover for your guests. It's not only for kids, grownups of all ages will have plenty of fun as well. Elevators and ramps are also throughout the building to those who need assistance! Photos by: @joshandlindseyphoto
Active duty military families get in FREE! We visited while PCSing and it was such a nice time for the kids to get out and run around. Our 2 year old loved it! And our 9 month old thought it was fine. So much to see and do and so much staff around cleaning and helping to keep an eye out.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
Tons of fun activities for the whole family here! Beautiful building, nice staff, and surprisingly clean/organized. You'd think being a children's place that stuff would be all over, but the staff do a great job of keeping things picked up and maintain a great environment! The parking lot seems kind of small, but it works well. We were there in the afternoon, and stayed until it closed. They have interactive screens, arts and crafts projects throughout each exhibit, and plenty to keep a family busy all day. We will definitely be returning again soon!
