The Shaver Shop

I recently got into DE shaving and I prefer dealing with a local shop instead of mail order. Found this place via Google and since I am often in Torrance, this seemed like a good place to try. Went in with my wife and immediately fell in love with extensive selection of razors, brushes and other shaving supplies. The owner came up and asked how he could help. I let him know I mainly wanted to find a new shaving cream and browse the other razors and ask his opinion of the many different ones available. They had a large selection of shaving cream and had sample container for customers to try the fragrance. He let my wife and I smell each one without rushing us. We decided on the Taylor of Old Bond Street tobacco leaf cream. I liked the fragrance quite a bit and my wife loved it and since she needs to smell me.... He then took plenty of time to go over the many different razors. I was not planning on buying a new on but he told me about the virtues of a slant head razor. At no time did he put pressure on me to buy, but I was intrigued and wound up getting a Merkur 39C. Prices on the Merkur and the cream were very reasonable, comparable to the online shops. I did ask to buy a five pack of Feather blades. I have never used them but wanted to try these legendary sharp blades. The owner gave me the five pack for free and also threw in a five pack of his preferred blades, the Gillette Nacet. It was really nice to go into a store where there is a large selection of items to browse and have a proprietor who is extremely knowledgeable about the subject at hand and is more than willing to take the time to share the knowledge. The Shaver Shop is a gem in Torrance.

Fantastic job on my hair shears. I had two scissors done at $32 ea. I usually take my tools to Ross cutlery but will be going to here now. One needed alot of work because I dropped it and had several nicks. The other just needed a little sharpening and honing. Did a wet paper cut test and the shears cut through with NO pulling at the tip!!

Very knowledgeable couple that are owners/operators of this shop for a long time. I recieved quality items from them and great advice. Old-school shops like this aren't common now-a-days. They have a customer for life now.

I just love this store. They know their product and share that knowledge with anyone who asks. The prices here are good and you can see it before you buy it. If you shave or know someone who does, you need to go here. Hair clippers, straight edge, and scissor sharpening is just a bonus. These great people deserve your business.

What an amazing little shop. With everything treated as disposable now a days this shop reminds you of the symbiotic relationship shops like these have in terms of keeping things functioning with great quality which can also be environmentally friendly by extending the life of your kitchen tools. The customer service was great and the quality of work was even more amazing! For those that need your knives sharpen this is the place. This shop also has a collection of shaving tools that seem very cool. Thanks for your help! I’m definitely coming back!

Took several kitchen knives here to be sharpened and they did a fantastic job. $1 an inch, not sure how that compares to other places but well worth it. They did an excellent job and repaired/re-honed one of my professional quality knives that had several chips from the blade. Nice, friendly staff as well. Highly recommended.

I brought in 3 knives to be sharpened and sharp they are! Other places have scratched my blades up, but they did it right here. Plus the husband/wife team who own and run the place are hilarious. I'll definitely bring the rest of my knives here.

I really love this place. I was considering going from an electric razor back to a traditional razor. I considered getting into the whole double-edged safety razor, shave cream with a brush, etc. I went to The Shaver Shop and they were awesome. So nice. So knowledgeable. So down to earth. I felt like I was going over to a friend’s house for info and advice. I ended up getting an awesome razor, safety razors, shave cream, shave cream bowl and brush. It’s been awesome. When I went back to get razor blades and a razor stand, I felt like a kid in a candy shop. If you have any shaving needs, need knives, knives sharpened, electric trimmers or other accessories, I can’t recommend them strongly enough. Six stars out of Five!

Excellent shave shop. Roger and Marsha are friendly, and knowledgeable of all the shave products. Good people to talk to if you have questions. I took in a vintage straight razor to be honed. Let me tell you, Roger can put an edge on a razor. Many customers come in to get knives and clippers sharpend as well.

Rude people Horrible customer service they just sit around and talk to each other and when you walk in they look at you like you bother them. Now I know why they are always empty. Avoid at all cost
