This is not the place for an intimate dinner. It has a bar/party atmosphere you would find in Fort Lauderdale, don’t expect to hear anyone talk unless you’re screening across the table. It was just all-around an interesting experience. Also, imagine paying a premium price to be seated at a picnic table and share it with another party—just nuts. The atmosphere: was a party. You can’t hear yourself think. The staff: was relatively friendly and tried to be helpful, but they couldn’t hear anything. The food: average at a high mark up. Cleanliness: the table was fine; I don’t know about the deck bar, though.
Will never go back. Food was bad, and for some reason the whole place smelled like bbq ??? I thought it was a seafood spot… and I haven’t been able to get the smell out of my clothes. Bathrooms were not up to par for a place that charges 42 dollars for a lobster roll. Always heard surf lodge was cool but overall really disappointed.
Spending money here is a mistake. They throw out the entire bar at 3:45 PM. Happily let us run up an $700 tab and then thew everyone out and made the entire bar wait in line. Not how it used to be at all seriously would avoid this place. I know it’s trendy and whatever but it’s run by money hungry scumbags who would rather throw out paying customers than keep the original surf lodge vibe alive. Avoid at all costs. Bouncers were physically violent with guests.
To start the night, the food and drinks were amazing. It was a beautiful sunset view. But everything took a turn for the worst when Kristen/Kirsten screamed at my friend in the bathroom and demanded that she cut the line because SHE WORKS there. My friend apologized for the misunderstanding, then she continues to yell at her, threatens to kick them out and aggressively yells at them. As we are sitting to pay our check she yells at two more tables. A girl left in hysterical tears. THEN, we get in our Uber to share how upset we are, our Uber driver shares we are the third group that she has driven home that has been insulted, yelled at and mistreated by her. It’s unfortunate that such a beautiful place can employ such internally ugly people. Thanks but no thanks.
The rooms are clean and chic with a boho feel, and there are touches of glamour all around. The products, the Marshall speakers, the hotel brand collaborations are on another level. I love the entire staff that works for the hotel, from the attentive GM Rees, to the parking lot attendants - who will remember everyones name and every car, to the bartenders who don’t ever stop for a second and manage to do it all. It did not go unnoticed! The owner Jayma has created a one of a kind experience, and the music, food, wellness activities have made me come back to stay at The Surf Lodge for a decade, and will continue to come back as long as I can. The music lineup is incredible, and I’ve gotten to see everyone from Rufus du Sol to John Legend, play in these intimate sunset shows surrounded by positive energy!
Delicious dinner with a great vibe. Only feedback is to not rush us at the table so much but overall everything was great - honestly so good I forgot to take pics. Get the ricotta pic here is if 80% eaten ricotta
SO OVERRATED !!!! Food sucked and everyone is just sitting on top of each other. There is really no where to park. I wouldn’t recommend as a place to eat cause the quality just isn’t there. It’s the name and atmosphere you’d be going for. Which “atmosphere” is just a river/lake whatever but it’s not even the ocean. Probably just a spot for people to party at night, but who knows if that’s even good going by these other horrible reviews. It’s the Hamptons and people with big bucks are usually in the area, knowing this, they should step it up.
Surf is my favorite place to stay and visit in the Hamptons / Montauk. They attract the best live music acts and most energetic fun crowd. Set along the water with great food and beverage options makes this destination an easy choice for me. I've visited half a dozen times now and plan on making this my home away from home when out East. Keep it up Surf Lodge! Thank you!
I will say I have not always had the best experience at surf lodge, but our server kyara was amazing! she was very attentive to our needs and went to ask the staff any questions we had that she didn’t know the answer to, which a lot of servers won’t do. The food was great and the outside area was very nice.Service: 5/5
There’s no place to go except Surf Lodge! It’s hard to even leave to go elsewhere! Great music, vibe, staff, it can’t be beat. Brunch is outstanding. And the staff could not ne nicer, with Reese and team being so delightful and accommodating, in a place run by the best in the business, Jayma!Rooms: 5/5
