The Thompson-Hickman Madison County Library has books, DVDs, and audio books for check-out. It also has 6 Internet-ready computers and free Wi-Fi.
Thompson-Hickman County Library was built in 1918 and dedicated to the County of Madison County in 1923 in Virginia City, MT. Home of the Dick Pace Archives.
In 2015 we completed an expansion project which afforded us much-needed space. Along with the old space, which is now the renovated Thompson-Hickman Reading Room, we have a dedicated children's area, climate-controlled archives, and community room.
We have a large collection of fiction (Best Sellers & most popular), non-fiction, children and Montana history books as well as a large magazine, audio book, and DVD collection. Come check out our new releases in books and DVDs!
Interested in family or local history? Visit our archives or let us know what you are interested in and we well let you know what we can find!
We also have two children's computers and six adult computers with Internet access, including a large touch-screen computer that is handicap accessible! You can also bring your own laptop and use our Wi-Fi. We have a fax machine, copy machine, scanner and projector with a projector screen for patron use, too.
In keeping up with the newest technology, we also offer access to MontanaLibrary2Go, a digital library, where you can download digital audio books or eBooks to your portable device. We also have eReader tablets that can be checked out!
In March 2017 we were selected as the Montana Library Association's Library of the Year. The Thompson-Hickman Library truly is "a great place to hang!"
