Thrifty Car Rental

When we arrived at the Hertz counter in Knoxville airport, I wanted to change the primary driver to my husband. The person helping us, said they could not do it since the reservation is under my name. I asked if we could just cancel the reservation since we had not even paid yet and make it under my husbands name and she still declined the request. I choose to continue booking even though I could have easily went to the next car rental counter over. We arrived at our rental car and it was dirty, passengers side mirror was missing exterior piece, and fender was coming apart on the passenger side. We took pictures and continued on our way. Got about 2 miles out when the change oil light light up with 7% oil life. We had the car for a little less than 2 weeks. Thankfully, we did not have any further issues. Upon returning the car, the gentleman at the counter was very nice. We brought up our concerns, and he said, "oh the Chevy Malibu". So he knew all along of the issues but still continued to rent it out. I will give a 2 star due to the fact, we did not have any issues while driving it.

We got the vehicle we wanted at a fair price. It did its job for the few days we had it. Staff was friendly, but can use more help at the counter to expedite the process. I was asked to sign for an inspection before seeing the vehicle and there were scratches not noted on the damage report, but I took pictures and sent it to them and it wasn't held against us. No one was there for an early return and the keys were just dropped in a box for another company, but when they showed up to get the keys I had the receipt Emailed. Better markings for the key return are recommended.

Customer service was excellent. It was super easy to pickup and drop off the Jeep. The Jeep was the perfect vehicle for the mountains. What an enjoyable experience, we'll continue booking through Thrifty when we travel to Knoxville.

Horrible experience. Reserved the rental for 2 pm. We arrive, and they pull everything up. First, my bank put a hold on the payment because it was not a typical transaction so I had to call in and have it released. Not the companies fault. However, after going through that entire ordeal, the representative swipes my card for the $249. After paying, he informs me they cannot rent to me because this is a debit card in my company name and not my personal name. And assured me that the money will be refunded to the account shortly. Proceed to go rent at the next counter from a MUCH more customer oriented representative, and I guess my first representative took the clue to slip away from the counter. After actually securing my rental, I went to ask about the transaction they made to at was not being honored but nobody was at that desk anymore. I wanted 3 days before calling Thrifty, who I make the initial reservation with. After a very aggravating, 45 minute phone conversation, I find out this company is franchised out and I have to call them directly for information on my refund. The thrifty representative stayed on the line to attempt to connect me 2 times but nobody answers the phones. I have also called 2 times since. Brandon C is nothing short of a liar, and I will be continuing to call looking for answers on where my money is. But highly recommend going to the next counter and using Budget for your rental before dealing with this inept company.

I literally never give 1 stars and barely write reviews but this just got me frustrated. I made the reservation a whole month in advance, I reserved for a Toyota Corolla or similar 4 door. Pick up time 4:00pm and I did not get my car until 6:12 pm. And it wasn't busy or anything, they just didn't held the reservation I guess. They got my reservation they just didn't hold it. Like what the heck? They even got me paying and everything and then told me 15-20 minutes 2 times, by the 3rd time, they just didn't know what else to tell me. They did offer me a 2 door but I needed a 4 door as reserved. They ended up sending me over Hertz who initially wanted to charge me for a mini van, but then ended up just giving me a car for the price I had paid which made me feel like they were trying to scam me. Car was dirty and with "maintenance required" light on. I do not recommend this dollar or thrifty to rent a car.

The rental process was good. Easy to book online, very easy to find booking counter and sign out and return my vehicle at the airport. Getting the vehicle less simple. Signage was poor and I wandered around the parking garage for about 20 minutes before someone driving by suggested I look OUTSIDE the garage for my vehicle. Didn’t know that was an option! Vehicle was nice, clean, and ran well. Return was easy. Only other problem was a rather significant one. I lost an important item and I started looking for it with the car rental to see if it was left in the vehicle somewhere. I tried the number on my rental agreement as well as the 800 number on the website, and the website. Kept getting redirected to someone trying to sell me a life alert system with one number, nobody answered at the other. Website redirected me to Hertz and I finally ended up leaving a claim online but have heard nothing. In summary, rental itself was good, would wholeheartedly recommend as long as there are no problems of any kind. Can’t predict the problems so I probably wouldn’t use in the future. Sometimes customer service is important!

I would highly recommend Thrifty for all of your care rental needs. We flew in to Knoxville, TN and Thrifty jumper right in. We drove a Dodge Ram Warlock for a week. The process was seamless and the price was better than all the competitors. You won’t regret making a reservation for Thrifty.

We had a great experience with Thrifty rental. When we arrived at the Knoxville airport, there was no line like the rest of the agencies. We were even upgraded to a Jeep Renegade truck that was SUPER fun to drive in the mountains. The return process was easy and the truck made our trip even more fun!

Customer service @ the counter was great! They were very engaging and quick with the check in process. I had cut my finger upon returning my truck and they offered to get me a band aid. Both women working @ the counter had fresh manicures which is very professional when in close contact with your customers.

This location is the worst. Very short staffed, long lines and anonymous changes days after returning the car. When tried to call to ask what the charge was for, didn’t receive for the next 20 days don’t blame them for being short staffed… finally got through and they said that the charge was for gas, whereas we had explicitly filled the gas tank to brim minutes before returning the car and now suddenly it needed 5.3 gallons. What a waste! Has such an good experience with the car and this just causes you to think twice.
