The Undergraduate Health Sciences Academy concrete goal is to increase the number of Georgia students who are underrepresented in health care, enter into careers in the health professions.
The Undergraduate Health Sciences Academy (UHSA) at Morehouse School of Medicine was launched in 2016 as a comprehensive statewide effort to increase Georgia’s underrepresented and rural healthcare workforce by increasing preparation of student success through academic and career development. Students selected to participate in UHSA at MSMS will receive a stipend to work with a partner with whom they will conduct their research (research mentor). They will also receive a partial tuition scholarship, graduate or professional school test preparation and access to technology loan program if needed. Students are able to apply after they have completed one semester of undergraduate education.
