This is actually a nice theater but $30 for parking before 5PM is too much. Luckily parking is not too far and usually there is plenty. Bring your parking receipt with you and they will give $25 back. If you plan to buy that much or more in concessions, then you can redeem that receipt for credit at the concession stand. If you don't plan to buy concessions and or that much then you can get cash back at the box office. If you are buying tickets in person just show your receipt at the same time to get your rebate. If you purchased online, then get in line for the box office anyway to get your rebate since this location does not have a separate guest services desk. You can do so before or after. The bathrooms are tiny. As far as I know there are 3 mens bathrooms, two on each end of the first floor and one upstairs on the right side. For 19 theaters thia feels like way too little. Especially since the mena bathrooms only have 3 urinals and two stalls per bathroom. This is my second 70MM IMAX film projector rather than digital with laser. Both times the audio got messed up since audio for film is separate unlike digital. This time, the audio turned off completely for Oppenheimer. Luckily it was the first 5 minutes. Took about 10-15 minutes for it to get resolved and then they started the movie from virtually the beginning. Both times they gave complimentary movie passes so they made up for the inconvenience. I have yet to see a movie not in IMAX at thisblocation because I am not paying $5 for parking when I can go to a different AMC with free parking.
I come from all the way from the Bay Area to check out universal studios but also to stop by AMC, since I’ve never been to one, first thing the theater is very big and Very Amazing, snacks and drinks are good, but also thank you to the friendly staff who welcomed me to their place, but big props to their AMC A List, the 3D experience for Mario and guardians was worth it especially the imax 3D showing of guardians vol 3, also to the bartender who gave me that tasty Volume 3 themed drink thank you! I’ll definitely come back soon
Visited to see Oppenheimer since it was one of the few theaters with an IMAX 70MM viewing. Definitely worth scouring for tickets to take part in the immersive experience. The theater is in the center of Universal CityWalk so expect a small hike to reach it. Depending on where you park your journey leading up to the entrance will vary, but you can't miss it. Upon entrance you'll be met with a ticket concierge to scan your already purchased tickets and point you in the right direction. This was where most viewers went and was a fairly quick process. They have a checkout line to the right where you can purchase tickets on site if needed. The feng shui of the theater is very welcoming and I enjoyed their play on lighting and the use of natural light. The theater chosen to show Oppenheimer itself was huge. There are two entrances and depending on your seats should determine which one you use. Walking in feels like entering a stadium for a game or concert where you're led through a "tunnel" but can still see the stage screen that will host the event in front of you. The first thing you notice is the massive and curved screen. The aspect ratio of the screen is more square than the common widescreen ratio. The seats were okay. They're not like the typical AMC recliner chairs that we've grown accustomed to but moreso resemble individual bleacher seats. Understood as they want to fit as many people in this type of theater as they can but when the duration of the movie is 3 hours.. it's not long before you start to feel the effects. I've been to this theater twice and both for specific reasons. This isn't a theater one would go to every week to catch a movie, those of you that take FULL advantage of your A-list subscriptions, but it's a nice change of scenery with many things to dabble in before or after your movie. "..because here, they are" Enjoy!
A quite night. Not a lot of people. City walk a beautiful place to visit.
We attended today for Barbie movie. It was great experience. Very polite staff. Comfortable armchairs. We had great time.
Terrible experience - there was a fire alarm during the middle of the film. We went back in and they started playing the film with the lights on which would have been fine, until they turned the lights off and then they turned the video off too so we were just listening to the film in the darkness. They wouldn't even give us a refund. We're visiting from the UK so how's a free ticket going to help?
Clean theater, comfy seats and good projection system. It also has of the best IMAX theaters in the nation with it's ability to project 70mm film. I'm very happy to have this theater in my neighborhood. Speaking of... if you live nearby, you can apply for the Globe Partner Pass and get 12x free parking! For everyone else it's $5 parking with validation from the theater. And usually you get free parking after 9pm.
Remember when it was cineplex Odeon ? Now the change to recliner seating and updated sound and projection was initially really amazing. Sadly AMC is not keeping the location up to the premiere destination that citywalk is. Several things from seats to projection have been hit or miss since they don’t get fixed. Great advantage is still the real IMAX screen. Frequently their equipment at the ticket taker malfunctions, the bathroom do need some help and could use some cleaning trough the day. Reason I mentioned Odeon .. bring back the multiplex palace feel that Odeon had which could be done so easily. Especially for the high price of single admission and one has to pay for parking
Went to see Oppenheimer in IMAX. Glad we went with the larger screen. comfortable seating for a 3 hour show. The theater complex is spacious, nicely featured, and has lots of memorabilia. You pay $30 to park in the Universal lot, but the ticket counter will refund you $25, once you purchase tickets. Very reasonable.
Dear Lord is this the cleanest and nicest AMC? I think it very may well be! It’s super clean managed really well and the staff are super friendly and helpful! This was the first AMC I’ve been to where you could probably eat popcorn off the toilet seat. I’m so used to my NYC AMC with the mice running around in the Dolby Atmos theatre and the crazy people in the bathroom stalls… Thanks so much for making my movie going experience a real pleasure! What an amazing theatre!
