UPD ensures and promotes safety and security throughout the Buffalo State campus. In June 2012, UPD at Buffalo State became the sixth New York State University Police Department to earn accreditation from the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services Accreditation Council.
Officers routinely patrol the campus, enforce laws, and offer educational programs on safety. University Police work with local law enforcement, cooperating and sharing information in order to investigate and solve crimes.

Officers are on duty 24/7, patrolling the campus, residence halls and roadways on/near campus.
The University Police Department protects and serves Buffalo State by providing professional law enforcement services and actively promoting community involvement through progressive community policing strategies, problem solving, and a commitment to education.
