A specialized page for information on the USM orientation process. This page will provide the dates of all upcoming orientations and will act as a Q&A forum for any questions anyone may have.
Here at the University of Southern Maine, we strive to give our new and transfer students the best possible experience. We provide this one of a kind orientation to make the transition into our University as easy and as stress free as possible. During this process, students will make connections with others attending orientation, perform group building activities, and become informed on all aspects of academic and campus life.
What exactly takes place at Orientation?
Orientation is a time where the students and the parents, if they choose to attend, can learn more about the University. The students will participate in a few sessions about how to register for classes, find out information about core requirements, campus life, and financial responsibility while parents can find out more information about financial aid and what to expect from their students first year. Also students will be able to get their parking stickers, and student ID card, register for classes and meet with an advisor from their major.
Our mission is to get students involved and excited about embarking on their pathways here at the University of Southern Maine. Orientations build strong connections between students and provide a vast amount of information that help students hit the ground running as they start or continue their education. It is a very unique experience that cannot be put into words.
