I delivered my baby here and my husband and I were blown away by the experience. The labor and delivery nurses are phenomenal and the birthing suites/rooms are huge. Everyone you come into contact with is kind and caring. I cannot recommend West Penn enough!
L&d triage needs some serious work. I'm 39 weeks pregnant went in today over some concerns. My name was never taken and I was never checked in 2 hours later I asked for ginger ale and what their timing was. They gave me a hard time over the ginger ale at first wanted to send me to the cafeteria. The timing question was never really answered and 2.5 hours later after never being checked on and 3-5 other people who came in after me going ahead of me we told them we were leaving and no one seemed to care so we walked out. Dreading my experience to deliver here.
Amazing palliative care team, especially Maura. There are also some excellent nurses on E9 Heather and Carlee especially and in the ICU Alexandra and Nicole that were so caring and attentive. We also really appreciated the inpatient hospice staff for their support.
My grandson was born here 8/5, and it is a wonderful experience! I truly want to thank all staff, especially my grandson's nurse Cassandra. You are all truly admirable people
The staff at West Penn, from the security to the surgeons have been SO welcoming and caring. I can’t say enough about how they have comforted us. And the nursing staff on 9E to include my namesake took extra time to make sure we were all comfortable. The surgeon and his staff are also incredibly kind and caring and down to earth. The hospital room is immaculate….. truly every single corner is just as it should be. Thank you for taking such good care of your patients and their families. Your staff should be highly commended for their work. Kudos to the administration, because staff generally emulate their administrators and other hospitals should emulate you!!
Horrible hospital they will lie to people in the waiting rooms about how long it will be befor they can see there loved ones after surgery. They don't care about people at all, the overall stars should be at 1. They are awful!
I delivered my baby here in November and I can’t say enough about how great my labor and delivery nurses and doctors were. I had three different ones throughout my labor and they were all great in their own ways with accommodating my requests and all the issues we encountered. Before they transferred me to L&D, I was in triage and I will say the nurses there weren’t the friendliest and the atmosphere wasn’t very welcoming.. being there first and my encounters I was tempted to ask to be transferred. Things got a lot better in L&D though, and the room was great and large. I want to say a special thank you to Aisha spelling probably wrong who was kind and compassionate, especially patient. and Tailyn who actually was the nurse who helped me push and encouraged me the entire way. Her jokes and friendliness was exactly what I needed as a first time mom who was terrified. Those ladies deserve the world. Unfortunately, the reason for my rating being so low is I believe I was kind of ignored on a concern once I was in my recovery room. My IV was improperly placed from day 1 and we had nothing but problems my entire hospital stay. I was given an iron infusion then experienced pain and swelling beyond anything I’ve ever experienced with an IV. I asked the nurses to please check and make sure everything was okay and I wasn’t developing a blood clot because my arm looked like a balloon. 3 different nurses and 1 doctor checked it throughout the 3 day stay and all said “it should be okay.” “It’s probably not a blood clot? Just normal swelling. If it doesn’t go away within a couple days head to the ER.” Guess who was sent home with a swollen painful arm and then presented with a blood clot just two days later? Yeah, me. I truly believe they didn’t want to take the extra steps to check and make sure it wasn’t something more serious and validate my concern of a blood clot. The clot was so big by the time it was caught three days later that I am still fighting to get rid of it THREE MONTHS LATER. If you have a valid concern make sure you advocate for yourself and don’t let them take the easy way out. I am filing a formal complaint so we will see what happens.
They made me lose a tooth. Tania specifically was not a dentist and nobody at the hospital told me there wasn’t a dentist on site so i sat in the waiting room for 2 hours and then a hour in the back room. After my tooth was put back in i was informed that i needed to be inserted within an hour which it was not. So now i am going to lose my tooth. Really traumatic terrible time.
I’ve had a terrible experience with Allegheny Health Network. I’m an out-of-state student in Pittsburgh, so I chose Allegheny Health Network out of convenience to get an early appointment. I was never given a diagnosis, and there was never a follow up.
Forty three years ago, my baby boy spent his first two weeks there. They took very good care of him. Being so close to Easter, the care givers made tiny Easter bonnets for the newborns. When I called to see how my baby was doing, the sweet lady said, " Oh yes, the Bayorek baby! She's the cutest one in here! My heart sank! Someone had put a pink bonnet on Jacob. After we cleared this up, it was kind of funny, because he definitely didn't look like a boy, and he stayed beautiful , especially, to me.
