This visit to West Side Park was a blast from the past. My brother whom I haven't seen in 20 years, passed through with his wife making a remembrance tour of our old stomping grounds. We spent our high school years living in the white River Apartments across the street so West Side park was our back yard. The park has many improvements, nice playground equipment and basketball courts. Nice access to the river, but the loss of a star was the unmaintained restrooms. And I mean unmaintained.....non working poop filled toilet, no soap or tp dispensers very dimly lit and very dirty with debri all over the floor. Nice building for park restrooms but big fail on maintaining. Still worth a visit. Playground: Good solid equipment with several pieces for everyone to play on. Restrooms: Fail......potential for nice but absolutely no maintenance or repair. Dog-friendliness: Lots of room to roam around. Picnic area: A few nice areas, one shelter. Lots of trees for shade.
Beautiful park. A good place to hang a hammock. Plenty of trees space at the right distance. Very peaceful by the water, plenty of room for people to enjoy different aspects of the park.
Park is always a great place to take our toddler. There was a broken bouncy animal ride and we wish there were more of the blue toddler swings you can ride with your kid. Other than not having much of a toddler area we love this park. I finally sat on the iconic turtle with my son.
Some of the park equipment needs updated but the grandson had fun.

This was a very nice park. There is a sweet little play ground that has definitely been there a while but it is still very fun to play on. The two favorites were the giant turtle and the bench swing that you use a foot board to push yourself. My children and I had lots of fun for a good hour.
