I actually live close to what is now called At Ease Campground and Marina. The owners are great, honest hard working veterans. The keep the park nice. The store stocked and the restaurant food good.
I was so young when I was introduced to this awesome place, I cant believe how awesome it is as a 40 yr old as well!! A lifetime of memories have happened so far, but yet sew many more are to come!! I'm so excited for the future of this business!!
Love seeing the good changes happening at my childhood home! Great service, food and atmosphere! Ya'll come visit!
Stayed there at the recommendation of friends. Loved it! Great fishing and the owners are so sweet and helpful. Also its pet friendly and our dog had a great time. We seen dear just walking around, rabitts, turtles, ducks and a gator. Planning on another visit with family!
I visited here with my family in November 2011 - was looking for an interesting place to stay en route from Orlando to Mobile - and had a lovely time. It's a beautiful area, perched on the edge of Lake Seminole, and there are lots of pleasant places to stroll around. We weren't there for the fishing, but that is the main focus. The cabin we stayed in one of the log ones was smart and clean, the shower had plenty of hot water, and the surrounding trees were full of wildlife. We ate at the restaurant in the late afternoon - note it isn't always open, check in advance - and had a really nice meal. The BBQ sandwich had pork which had been cooked for 12 hours, and tasted great. And the service was terrific, the ladies made a real effort to make us feel welcome and kept on giving us free desserts!
Not in the best shape these days, but can still launch easy enough and plenty of easy parking. Cheap at 3$ launch fee and 5$ per night slips available. Store has a few important in case you forgot necessities. Very friendly helpful folks.
Wingates Lodge is and always has been a charming place to stay to go camping, hunting, and especially fishing! The people who own it don’t really advertise a lot, so I feel this place doesn’t get the love it deserves. I’ve heard it has been closed temporarily since hurricane Michael, but I have nothing but love for this place. I’ve been consistently staying here for nearly sixteen years now, and have had very few bad experiences. All in all, I think it deserves more than the few who learned about it mouth-to-ear, and is definitely a great place to stay.
Has the potential of being GREAT .. but aged owners have allowed it to fall from former day. New cabins were added last year and can be rented at a medium price but are not waterside and have no close access to docks. The store carries practically NOTHING which is a major FAIL.. there is no other stores outside a 30 minute drive... This place could make a killing if it carried even basic groceries and supplies like more connvient store bait shops.. even a bigger killing if it had Dollar Store merchandise. The restaurant is long gone which also is sad considering this spot would be a romantic night out. As it is...VERY BASIC tackle, a good boat ramp and docks.
When my family built and operated this place for 43 yrs. it was Top notch food, service and hospitality. The current owners destroyed in less than 2 years what it took 4 decades to build. It's now closed. Praying for another buyer to come in SOON!
Deplorable! My parents bought a boat ramp usage ticket and put in our boat then went to come pick it up a couple days later. A young lady came down to the dock with a huge smug attitude and stood watching us put the boat on the trailer. When my mother started up for the truck she retorted that "you can't use this ramp you haven't paid" confused my mother stated she had indeed paid and had the ticket hanging from the mirror in the truck to which she retorted back "Yah, I remember you and you haven't you have to pay because its separate days" My mother then told her "Ok, just let me pull my truck up out of the way and no one explained that to me." The lady rolled her eyes and huffed off inside. Moments later the owner came out just as my mother was easing up in the truck and yanked open the truck door! She started arguing saying the girl came in and stated we were refusing to pay! Our group was all over the parking lot with no way to just run out without paying. Staff was beyond rude, owner just tried to justify her rudeness, and more than that the place had hornet nests with buzzing hornets all in the wood. There are no signs saying anything about the boat ramp fee or the deal about the ramp passes. I was so enraged I refused to set food in their store to buy anything like I planned and just left. If you have a choice go somewhere else if you don't then good luck!
