The Wooden Boat Festival features:
Wooden and Classic boats for tour and display
A Classic Car and Motorcycle Show
A "Quick and Dirty" boat building contest where teams blitz-build wooden boats, parade them through the festival and launch them into the Tchefuncte River. Do they sink . . . or swim? Watch and see!
A Children's Village full of activities, educational booths, crafts and more for the kiddos of all ages!
A Beer Garden - great for checking in on those college games throughout the weekend! Flat screens, seating, and did we mention, beer?
Arts, Louisiana crafts, food, sun and fun for everyone!
All proceeds benefit the educational programs and exhibits of the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Maritime Museum and the ongoing preservation of the historic Tchefuncte River Light Station.
The Wooden Boat Festival is the primary fundraiser of the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Maritime Museum. In partnership with Southeastern Louisiana University, the mission of the Maritime Museum is to provide an education and research center to collect, interpret, and preserve the maritime history, culture, and environment of Lake Pontchartrain, the Lower Mississippi River Basin, and the Louisiana Gulf Coast. Our goal is to bring Louisiana's unique maritime history to life.
