We can not say enough good about Woodlawn Memorial Gardens! Honestly we were so touched how special, Earl, Jacqueline, Scott, Carter and Maria all were with us and especially with my Autistic Great Nephew whose ashes of his Mother they placed in a beautiful Ossuary. They all made the moment so beautiful and dealing with them from start to finish was comforting. I actually now have Six Family Members at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Norfolk Virginia going back to 1986 as the first member there. They have always made Families feel as if your family member is their family member!
I honestly think this corporation is bogus. My parents already paid for their plot and vault In 2001. Yet I still had to spend almost $9,000 for an open and close of plot and headstone. The integrity of the corporation is compromised. At the moment when I had to bury my father, they’re trying to sell me a plot for my husband and myself. To do so, they were willing to take $1,000 from the $2390 open and close of my dads plot and place that money my dad’s life insurance policy as the down payment on the plots they were attempting to sell me. It’s very insensitive and comes off as a corporation trying to take advantage of families in their time of need. I’m actually disgusted and wish I had chosen to spend a few thousand more to take him elsewhere and sell the plots they have at Woodlawn. This was a beautiful final resting place until it was purchased by a corporation. And the nerve to have “Dignity” as a slogan or company name . I wasn’t going to leave a review at all but this corporation keeps emailing requesting my review so here you are.
Wow, I'm actually writing a review on a funeral home. Losing a loved one is extremely difficult, and the entire process can be overwhelming. We sought the services of Woodlawn last year when my Aunt passed away, and Liana made the process go smoothly as possible. I couldn't believe how beautiful she looked. Now here we are again, needing their services again, as my grandmother passed away on April 8th. With the issue of COVID-19, things were a little different. We had the pleasure of working with Liana again, and she arranged for a private viewing of my grandmother, where we could view her in groups of 10. We were not able to have a traditional funeral, therefore, a private gravesite funeral was arranged to host my grandmother's Home Going celebration, and it was just as beautiful, just like she was. The grounds of where your loved one will be laid to rest, are simply gorgeous. I hope this review will give someone reassurance that your family will be well taken care of. So with that being said, losing a loved one is never easy, but Woodlawn will make your experience as seamless as possible.
Today we laid to rest the matriarch of our family. Viola Virginia Eskins. My family drove three hours for the service and we decided to bring our dogs with the intention of leaving them in the back of our truckwe didn’t want to leave them at home alone for so many hours and also didn’t want to be rushed to head back home when we got there the Woodlawn staff went above and beyond and not only accommodated our human family but my fur babies too. They provided a safe shady spot for my dogs, cleaned their cratesthey got sick on the ride and gave them attention and water all while we were morning our grandma. I cannot say enough how thankful I am for the staff at Woodlawn. They are so amazing.
I attended the celebration of life for Mr. Brandon on the 17th of August 2022. The staff welcomed us all with kindness and great sympathy. I know the son of Mr. Brandon and had never met his father. But after the service I felt like I knew him. The speaker clearly took time during meetings with the family to get to know him herself. I felt the impact of his life thru her words. I loved how she used the 4 quarters of a football game to show his successes in life thru 4 quarters as a tribute to his football and coaching career. The final touch with the song was perfect. I saw many tears rolling down cheeks because you could completely relate to the words and the meaning. My grandparents rest at this location and my parents have their final resting spot here. I can see why so many people choose to be laid to rest here. Everything was flawless and perfectly organized and orchestrated. So grateful to be a part of the celebration of Life which without a doubt Celebrated Mr. Brandon and left a lasting impression on my soul.
I was fortunate enough to not have to visit this place under bad circumstances. I took a walk through the memorial gardens this morning with my daughter while waiting for my wife at the hospital. It was very pretty and very well landscaped.
The facility has all the things you need in one location. The funeral director was helpful and professional. Will continue to use their services for other family members.
Jackie was very helpful with aiding me find my mother who was buried during COVID. My fathers service was everything he would have wanted. Would recommend without hesitation!
We have used Woodlawn for most of our family burial needs. Robert DeCroix has been amazing in helping us with the passing of our Dad in August 2021 and continues to be a great help in planning for our future needs. He is kind, compassionate, and goes above and beyond to help us out in any way that we may need. Thanks Rob and Woodlawn for your professional care & support during these difficult times!
The care, compassion level, and attention to detail expressed by Woodlawn’s entire staff is above and beyond and unrivaled. My family’s personal experience with Robert DeCroix is something that was beyond measure. He truly does care and showed it in so many way throughout the entire process. My grandfather and more recently, my father were both laid to rest here, and even though I was going through the worst time of my life, I felt a certain level of comfort I know I would not have received anywhere else. Thanks again, from Jennifer and Robin!
