Where to begin, both of my parents are patients of Yale Nee Haven Health, but for the last 44 days with a short break in between my sister and I have spent 10 hours a day here while my mother has been inpatient due to the discovery of cancer which a Yale New Haven Pulmonologist has misdiagnosed for the last year, then a stroke and then a readmission due to dehydration. The nurses and doctors here are amazing but they are so understaffed we wait close to 45-60 minutes for the nurses to respond to call regarding severe pain, my mom was noted as having an incident of inconvenience but rang the bell for assistance and no one showed up until it was too late, at the point on time the only reason that my mom is still in the hospital s because we’ve been waiting on a MRI which we’ve been waiting for since Sunday night but has been pushed and cancelled 4 times so the hospital just leaves her here in bed where the nurses only come in 2 maybe 3 times throughout the day, maybe because we’re here for the full 10 hours we’re allowed but then have to wait 45 minute when they’re needed, despite the hourly rounds posted on the wall in each room advising that a nurse or a PCA should check in hourly. What this hospital has become due to the staffing shortages as a result from the hospitals own doing related to their COVID policies during the pandemic is just awful. There was a patient care associate searching the floor for personal protective equipment so she could go into a room to assist a patient that required on so so before entering the room, she made a call and was instructed to check another floor!! What is going on!!
Horrble ED, nurse sat there sucking on her soda and couldn't help me find my family member. Who it turns out was admitted. And neurosurgery dept is a horror show! No one is organized, they tell you its some other doctors area. Attitude is disrespectful. There are plenty of other hospitals. Go there
My father had brain surgery here I selected this hospital hearing they are the best with that type of surgery and I was correct. The surgeons that worked on my father were amazing and the ICU nurses were nothing but nice to me and my family. My complaint is the staff that sits in the front desk.. they were extremely rude when I went to them and asked for my father’s belongings.. he was transferred to another room and some of his things weren’t there including items that I saw the night before. The woman on the intercom first told me my father wasn’t there for a month.. which was false because he only left the ICU hours ago. She never asked what the items were and would not let me to see the room. She was very nasty towards me when I simply ask if they could double check . I think staff needs to learn how to be polite towards families when they are going through tough times and they should learn from the nurses how to deal with people correctly.
When selecting a surgeon and medical team for a knee replacement, a patient wants to choose the team that gives him/her the great chance of success while minimizing complications and stress. I would encourage you to choose Dr. Lee Rubin and the Yale medical team. From pre-op to post-op, the team left no stone unturned! The team answered all my questions in a timely manner and reduced my stress level. When it was time for surgery, the infection control and prevention were the best I’ve ever experienced. Dr. Rubin is a very skilled surgeon and I recovered quickly with no complications. The Yale team did a great job and continued to “check in” with me for weeks afterward. According to my physical therapist, I am ahead of schedule in the recovery process. If I need another joint replacement in the future, I would not consider going anywhere else. - Tom G.
Excellent care. Lovely nurses and caring doctors. I am Very grateful for each and all employees of Yale New Haven Hospital. If those who gave a bad review would know how many years of school doctors have to go through to serve the public. If they would know how many years they have to invest and perhaps miss events with their families to have the excellent training they have today. How many hours of sleep they have lose to train and become the professional they are today. People should be more considerate when giving reviews to hospitals. The nurses and doctors go through a lot of stress to help you get out of the hospital alive My father once said, “if you’re not going to say anything positive, then keep it to yourself”. Thank you again for taking care of me and to make sure I was well enough to go back to home and continue with my life.
BEWARE: They do not accept lab results from other systems, so they will need to rerun tests at one of their sites. DO NOT recommend if you have recently moved or mid treatment. I strongly urge you to go to another hospital system to avoid redundant invasive procedures.
I wish I could put zero stars. This "hospital" brags about supplying the highest level of care, but the only thing you leave with is a huge medical bill and trauma to deal with. If you love your children do not take them to the pediatric ward here. Patient support is a joke so do not waste your time reaching out to them. They will tell you "what would you like to report" and then say well there isn't anything we can do and our "care" is not going to change. I have no idea why it has a good reputation in the medical field because it is honestly a joke of a hospital.
This is a terrible hospital with a serious nursing problem. My boyfriend was there for 7 days and it was HELL! I have never seen such a dirty hospital. He was left in bed for 7 straight days with no assistance to get out of bed which has made him so weak he needs physical therapy. There were staff complaints on every elevator I got on about working conditions and lack of leadership. Please find another hospital to take your loved ones.
Ever since I was treated by YNHH five years ago, I have felt worse and worse every day after these doctors touched me. I expect to be on disability and totally unable to take care of myself nevermind being able to work, as a direct result of medical malpractice that has been inflicted upon me. The sheer callous and abusive behavior by *all* Yale New Haven employees is criminal. My recommendation to anyone considering Yale New Haven Hospital is: Do not do it. You will regret it.
There is a very RUDE employee by the name of Aaron she said she doesn’t haven’t to give me her last name when asked for it. And when asked to speak with a manager she asked me to go find it on my mothers chart. She does not know how to speak with people she is lucky I am miles away from her. My mother is recovering from a stroke. She had the most nastiest attitude every and did not want to help at all. I hope someone handles this rude little girl. ! If you’re in a hospital system you need to have more patience and grace! She does not deserve to work there!
