Yarborough's Homemade Ice Cream

You ever eat somewhere and the experience from beginning to end was perfect? It's so great that you want to tell others but also don't want to potentially contribute to a massive increase in popularity that you aren't able to get a table? That's Yarborough's. We were at the start of a road trip from Apex to Louisiana and decided to eat an early dinner so to make good distance before stopping for the night. I did a Google search for 'burgers near me' and the reviews, pictures, and menu led us to choose Yarborough's in Sanford. There is very convenient FREE parking directly across the street. We were a little bit in disbelief and checked to make sure there wasn't a pay station hidden somewhere. We walked in and were immediately greeted by the strangely familiar vibes of a hamburger dive you probably have been to. It reminded me of an old burger spot in my home town in South Louisiana UL Lafayette alumni - I'm referring to Campus Copies. They have a huge case of homemade ice cream on your right and a register straight ahead to place your order. We visited on a Friday around 6pm and there was a reasonable line to order and folks eating at a handful of tables. Not dead, but not overwhelmingly crowded. Our ordering experience was easy and the helpful staff were so nice and created a welcoming environment. We were given a cute styrofoam cup with a number on it to help with bringing our order to our table. We both ordered double bacon cheeseburger combos with onion rings, fully intending to save half for the road. That plan immediately went out the window after the first bite. These burgers are phenomenal. They are obviously handmade and perfectly cooked. The onion rings. THE ONION RINGS. They are beautiful golden brown and the absolute perfect thickness. I seriously considered breaking my lease and moving my family, but ultimately decided to stick it out and happily make the hour drive on a regular basis. Highly, highly recommend. If you're driving anywhere near this place - Go!

This place is an absolute nugget! We stumbled onto it while passing through Sanford and were looking for a good grill / diner. We were very impressed! From the cordial friendly way we were greeted when we walked in the door, to the owner bringing us a sample of his peach ice cream that he only makes one month each year - you just couldn't ask for a more welcoming atmosphere. Been in business since the 1920's and making ice cream since the 1930's and I'd say they have it perfected. My wife had a cheeseburger that was hand-pattied and fresh. I saw them cooking bacon and couldn't resist getting a BLT and some fries. Rounded it out with a cup of the peach ice cream for dessert, although they have many more flavors to choose from. Fantastic meal at a great price in a friendly and busy atmosphere. We will definitely be back again when traveling through Sanford.

We heard about this place from the Tarheel traveler on WRAL so we had a general idea of what to expect. We arrived around 11:45am on a Sunday and immediately Sonya greeted us with a big smile. We shared a cheeseburger, hot dog all the way, fries and onion rings. If you are a fan of onion rings prepare to be in heaven, they are so good I almost got another order to take home. Everything was hot, fresh and delicious. We look forward to trying some of the other items on the menu next time. Big thank you again to Sonya, she took our order, delivered our food to the table and helped us with ice cream before we left! Amazing service the entire time.

Cute shop. Came for the ice cream, stayed for the burgers and corn dogs. All were delicious. My husband had a milkshake & a cheeseburger combo, my son had 2 corn dogs and a lemonade. I had a cheeseburger combo and sweet tea. We shared some scoops of chocolate and cookies n cream afterwards. Good portions of food for a great price served by kind staff. Service was excellent, the staff were very kind.

Oh my goodness, try the banana pudding ice cream! I got a two scoop waffle cone, with strawberry cheesecake and banana pudding ice cream... The strawberry cheesecake was underwhelming as it didn't seem to have pieces of cheesecake in there or anything... More just a strawberry cheesecake flavor... But the banana pudding ice cream was delicious! I wish I had just gotten two scoops of the banana pudding ice cream. It had little chunks of the nilla wafers and the banana pudding taste was amazing! I wouldn't have recommended this place to anyone over the strawberry cheesecake ice cream, but the banana pudding makes me recommend at least going there once to try it.

I remembered this place being better before. Don't show up starving because you will be waiting for a bit for your meal to be brought out. Burgers are ok. There are much better places to go but if you're wanting to support local small business, it's worth a stop. They do have good ice cream..Food: 3/5

This is a small business but the food is out of this world! A burger combo with fries and drink was around $8 and you could tell it was fresh hamburger not frozen. Too many flavors of ice cream to try to list. Good portions for the money. Quint establishment, hometown feel.Food: 5/5

I've loved this place since I was a baby... literally. Honestly the best ice cream I've ever had! Burgers are always great, too. Favorite ice cream flavors include coffee, bubblegum, chocolate and butter pecan.Food: 5/5

We had burgers, hot dogs, turkey sandwiche, ff and onion rings! All was very tasty. The chicken salad plate was delicious! Service was good and they were friendly. They also have fresh cookies chocolate chip and macadamia white chocolate and always fantastic ice cream!Food: 5/5

They are very nice. They are got awesome cheeseburgers, and hotdogs and fries and onion rings best for you can get in Sanford. Kid-friendliness: My kid loves eating here
