So we were badged inside the park by an out going ranger as no one would answer the after hours numbers. Good enough. Told to go to the ranger's house and knock and he would take care of it. I spent about an hour knocking on every door of the house while the cow from the petting zoo attached mooed at us never got a person. Upside showers were good. Women's bathroom was better stocked than men's. Although clearly everything was shutdown for the season. Heat in the shower houses was good. Power worked at the site we parked in. Paid for the online wifi as this didnt require a person worked sporadically through out the night. Looks like the place is primarily used for longer term summer places. Not many campsites actually available although there were no people around.
We've been coming here for more than 15 years now and every time we go there is something new for us. The staff is friendly, the facilities are clean, the campground itself is well maintained and kept clean and we are treated like family by everyone there. Thanks so much for another great year, can't wait to do it again next summer!
We have stayed in the campground during the winter and have had a great experience. The staff is very friendly. The restrooms are clean and heated, and they have hot showers. During the snowy times the campground areas were plowed and shoveled promptly. We have enjoyed the free Dish network TV too. It's been a great place to be during our transition here in Massachusetts and they have made us very comfortable.
After reading the reviews, which made me nervous, I almost cancelled. I'm so happy I didn't. My kids enjoyed it so very much, they completely had a blast and even asked if we can go yearly. The camp staff were very friendly and helped out with everything. The food was great and appropriately priced. So were the drinks. We didn't even need to go out as everything was so conveniently located on site and available in the store. While booking a site was a little pricey, it didn't stop us from making new memories with our kids. Our kids also loved the pool and the DJ on Friday night. Which we enjoyed too. I definitely don't know what all the fuss was about seeing we all enjoyed our time there. Thanks for helping us make great memories.
As a kid, my whole family camped here every year. Throughout the 80s and 90s my grandparents would get a spot for the whole season, my uncle and his family another, and my parents. They were friends with another family who got 3 spots every year for the whole season as well. The family that owned it had kids around our age and we used to hang out with them. My best childhood memories contain fragments of the layout, the lake, the waffle fries, the sounds of live country music on the patio and children playing in the pool. I never liked being outdoors, but loved it here and here alone. As adults, my sisters and i have all taken out families here and little has changed. The activities, the layout. As a thirty Something year old, I'm not typically in to the outdoors still. I'm a city girl, a hotel enthusiast and the sun and i hate one another, but i can stay here and forget that side of myself. Something magical about the place. I'd like to point out that the rates are fairly competitive for resort camping. The facilities are as clean as i remember.
If you enjoy rustic camping this is the place for you. It reminded me of the few times I camped in Michigan when I was much younger. The site we stayed was very quiet, enjoyed sitting outside the camper reading with a nice cup of coffee. As we only stayed on night, did not use the pool or lake but others were in the water and seemed to enjoy. The showers and bathrooms were clean and well maintained. The personnel I dealt with were very friendly and that evening they provided entertainment with DJ, Jimmy Jay. Karaoke was a big hit. Would I return, most definitely.
Overall we had a great time and it was a great experience, below is a full review for those interested. The good: Location A+ We booked last minute for a weekend stay on a whim. Great location, right off the highway, but feels like New Hampshire. Nice wooded sites, some with water views. Staff - A The staff, who were extremely helpful in both booking and any questions we had a lot of questions!. Helpful on the phone and in person. Security guard was very nice and helpful as well with accommodating us and showing us where to go, and where to park an extra car that came in for a night, and getting us wood for the fire. The store staff was great and very nice. Great family feel at the place. They have quite a supply of items in the store, so if you are the type to forget something, they likely have it there. The Aqua Center staff were also very helpful and nice. Cleanliness - A+ The pools were very clean. They clean the bathrooms extremely well, and yes, they are a little outdated, but it is a campground, not a Hilton. Showers and bathrooms were the cleanest I have seen camping. Trash is picked up daily and we did not notice any nuisance animals skunks, etc that you typically see at any campground after dark. Activities - B+ The DJ on the patio Friday night was great, all the kids loved dancing, and the adults relaxed and enjoyed the show. The kids loved the water slide and the activities, arts and crafts and the hayride. Rules - A Quiet time and fire out rules were reasonable, and rules for where you can bring/buy drinks/alcohol were also reasonable to allow adults and families to enjoy themselves while their children also have fun. When asked, the staff was happy to inform you of what the rules are. Minor needs improvement/suggestions: Out of Order Issues The arcade was fun but had some out of order games, really not a big deal since there were plenty that did work, but it almost would be better to remove them if they are out of order for a long time. And of course, the kids always want to play the games that don't work. Change machine was out of order as well, which was OK since we could go to the store to get some, but again, if it truly is out of commission just get rid of it and put a sign saying you can get change in the office. Similar suggestion for the laundry room. Again, when camping I don't really expect laundry facilities, and it was great having a laundry facility when we got soaked in downpours for the one day it rained. Having the dryers there to dry the sleeping bags out was huge! However, there were some machines out of order. Not sure if those are permanently out of order, or if they just were overused for that day since it rained and people were using them heavily. If they are truly long-term out of order, then best to just remove them, I would have been happy just to see that they had ANY dryers. Folks will be much happier seeing a few working things, than a bunch of non-working things. All that being said, you don't go camping to do laundry or play arcade games, so it was not a big issue! Minor Upkeep/Maintenance Items The experience could be improved by some maintenance work that may not be a big investment. For example, the horseshoe area could use some new sand for the pits, and maybe a painting of the boards on the pits. Another item we noticed was one of the tables was a bit wobbly in the bar area, again, just a screw gun and some time to fix, not a big deal at all. We did notice them painting a lot of the fences, so they are doing some general upkeep, but take an overall look at some of the small things and it will be even better. _______ Update after response from owner: Thank you so much for the quick response Jim! We had a great time, and it is great to hear you are so responsive to your guests' suggestions. My daughter is still talking about it and cannot wait to go again! Looking forward to our next visit!
I brought my family to Jellystone in Sturbridge MA as a getaway. I didn't realize all the activities and entertainment there was for everyone to do. We didn't have to hear the kids say 'we're bored'. The staff was great, recreation was fun and upbeat and always smiling. The office staff was very helpful, I also noticed they had a bilingual speaking employee, which I thought was great because they did a great job helping the customers next to us. We rode a boat, played mini golf, swam, and played bingo! A lot of campgrounds we spend most of the time finding things to do, but here there was plenty! We enjoyed the stay and will def be back!
My family and I just stayed there this past weekend! What a great time. There was live entertainment every night and there was always some kind of activities going on to keep the kids busy. The reservation staff was amazing. They were very helpful with all my questions. They even have a snack bar that was delicious! And lastly the bar. Let me tell you those mudslides are the best in town hands down! Will definitely be back with my family!
We went in the winter March which I hadn't done before. The RV pull-through sites were all that was available. I was surprised to not have a picnic table or fire ring. We were right on top of the neighbors and there was a site in between us. Each site is 10' wide or so. I didn't walk around to the other sites to see what is available in the summer. There were signs for various activities in the summer like you would expect from a Yogi Bear campground. The people both the staff and other campers were very friendly and helpful.
