Amazing experience, gorgeous trails! Highly recommend to visit but maybe not during the summer or early fall months because it can be really really hot. Also, highly recommend to start the day as early as possible if you want to get a parking spot at the visitors center. The spots get completely full after ~7.30am. The shuttle is very convenient, no reservations needed. Only need a reservation if you are trying to do Angels landing.
It is difficult to describe the natural beauty of Zion National Park in words or pictures. There are so many scenic points all over the park. Some of my favourites were Lower Emerald and Higher Emerald pool. There is almost a couple of hours of hike from the base camp. It is a big park to cover in one day but you can take the bus from the base camp to quickly visit most important scenic points around the park. I visited the park in June, it was around 80F. There was lots of water in the river passing through the park. You should enjoy the beautiful sounds of the running water : I planned my trip by staying the night in St. George, UT which is one hour drive from the park. I left the hotel at 7:00 AM and reached the park around 8:00 AM via UT-9. It is good not to drive in the evening or night because you can cover scenic UT-9 in the morning. My next destination was Grand Canyon National Park, so I left the park around 3:00 PM so that I could reach Flagstaff, AZ before the night. Doing this, I covered UT-9 all during the day time. UT-9 is a very beautiful scenic drive which you should not miss. Do have the following with you, - Sun block - Sun glasses - Stick for hiking - Lots of water
The benefit of coming off-season is being able to drive the scenic canyon road in your own car without relying on the shuttle. The canyon is absolutely beautiful and very majestic. Looking forward to coming back when the weather allows for better hiking conditions.
One of the best national parks. The canyons are an amazing sight. The natural structure have mesmerizing shapes and contours. Definitely must try. Narrows were great and will come back for Angel's Landing.
We visited in 1st week of may,It was busy but beauty amazed us. Had to say this park is magnificent in all the terms. Mountains look spectacular during sun set time. -We did Narrows,it wasn’t too deep but, at few places water is higher than your waist. It was bit cloudy that day. -We did the Angels landing, after about 2-2.5miles the trail is only accessible by the chain which is very narrow and slippery and also you need special permission to access that. -Emerald pools trail upper, lower, middle are the great start for the day. They are quick simple and amazing. -Lastly Watchman Campground,we did camping under millions of stars and Surrounded by beautiful mountains. Cold breeze and camp fire such an amazing experience. It is so hard to capture all the beauty.
Zion National Park was Utah’s first National Park. Massive sandstone cliffs rise above a narrow slot canyon. There are unique plants and animals to see. A shuttle bus will take you around. It will drop you off and pickup from various points of interest. Great park for camping, canoeing, hiking etc. we were awestruck by the beauty of the park. It is definitely a must see National Park if you are visiting Utah.
1st time at Zion last week and it was absolutely breathtaking. We enjoyed hiking a lot of the trails, with the West Rim to Scout's landing, and a little beyond being our favorite. Hard, but so rewarding with those views. Loved The Watchman Trail as well. Dipped our feet in at The Narrows, and enjoyed seeing so much wildlife, and the gorgeous stars!! Shuttles were efficient and made getting around the park so easy. Can't wait to come back!
You will see greenery hear... Trees!!!!. Good hikes with awesome views. However be prepared with enough water. The narrows hike was awesome but not easy. It stretches 30 miles long if you do top to bottom..and will take more than a day. However it's not easy, first 2 miles on road then rest on water. Water shoes and poles are available for rent around $30/person. There are other beautiful challenging hikes too including the great Angle's landing. Must visit national park. Parking gets full quickly so be early or park on the street and take shuttlefree. Parking can cost upto $30 but plenty full on street. There are some awesome restaurants in the town with art gallery and downtown. The shuttle goes all the way.
For the 9 hrs it took us to get here it wasn't crazy amazing. Angels landing was a must do and the narrows were super cool but the rest of the hikes were pretty much the same thing over and over. It took us 4 days to hike the whole park doing about 4 or 5 hikes a day. Glad we did it but it definitely is a one and done kinda trip.
Beautiful place! Pros: many trails, spectacular scenery Cons: PARKING! Taking the shuttle is advertised as the best way to explore the park but what is not said is that street parking in neighboring towns is $20 for 2+ hours. If you really want people to take the shuttle, make parking more affordable. In the park, limited space to park, hardly any bathrooms. Other than the logistics, the park is beautiful.
