It was my first time eating from Adega in Umhlanga I have eaten from other branches. We ordered a platter, squid heads as a starter and malva pudding. The squid heads were okay, The platter main course was kind of okay portion size very generous but the sauce was on a salty side so I did not enjoy it as much. The malva pudding was old... you could tell that it's overly microwaved and that made it sticky and hard. I hardly ate anything from it.
Enjoyed our late lunch, went in a group ordered a combination of steak and seafood. Everything was good, no complaints.Food: 4/5
Such a disappointing experience. Chicken strips main was burnt, tough and dry. The portions were quite large, no complaints in that department. "Wow" - as in wow the platters were huge. We asked for our food to be packed up so we could give it to our dogs who, maybe could enjoy it. Even the chips were overcooked and hollow. We ordered veg on the side and were told it was creamed veg, only the spinach was. The area and tables we sat at were not clean at all. The floor was dirty and I had to request for it to be cleaned, no waiter/waitress cleaned it upon arrival. I dont mind paying good money for food, as long as it's worth it. This was definitely not worth it.
Had a lovely team lunch here this afternoon. The staff were brilliant. We had a group of 20 people and the orders ranged from starters to mains and dessert and different drinks and there were no mix ups. Our waiters were spot on with all the orders and so friendly and ready to assist us. The meals were absolutely divine! Very healthy portion sizes as you can see from the photos below. See photo labels for descriptions of each dish. A must visit in my opinion for a really hearty delicious meal with excellent service! Superb Adega Gateway! Keep it up
Always here for the pepper steak. However, my last experience was an extremely pleasant one. Our waiter was helpful and the food was great
Overpriced food, lousy atmosphere, vegetarian “platter” was served on a normal plate. Food actually isn’t too bad, the vegetarian pasta was decent but the cook took the wrong order from our waiter which meant one person at our table waited 15-20 mins after everyone else was served. Chicken portions sizes vary from day to day, and food seems to be prepared differently from day to day as well. Wouldn’t go back there anytime soon. Edit: Tried them out again and they’ve only gotten worse. Understaffed kitchen, serving food in chipped bowls, the unwashed lettuce in my salad had a worm in it see pics. Waiters milling around not attending to guests... list goes on. And a mandatory 10% hospitality charge for all your trouble.
It has been a while since we ate at Adega, and there might have been a few tweaks on the menu, but the food still tastes great! We tried their Chicken pasta, which was creamy, with the option of linguine or penne pasta, & the Chicken strips & rice, it was marinated in a slightly spice sauce and you have a choice between the chips or the rice. We did ask if they do half chips and half rice, and our waiter said unfortunately not. I would suggest that a half & half on the sides, could be added in as an option. Budget for two people +-R300.
If there was zero stars, I would choose zero We ordered a Platter which came absolutely cold, we told our waitress, she relit the Platter, and expected us to wait for it to warm, we waited for it to heat, it never heated. Pathetic food, pathetic service, would be great to let people know how bad this branch is. We wanted to sit inside, as it was windy and our drinks were blowing away, the waitress said Don't sit inside its full of flies. Our bill came to over a R1000 for food we took away, and gave to the homeless. Cold, old food. Very sad. Adega use to be our favorite place, maybe new owners. Drinks were watered down. And they no longer give free rolls, but they make u pay R50 a garlic roll, and give you 1 checkers looking hot dog roll with cheese. Such a joke, honestly. Disgusting place, will never return
The menu is very unprofessional as it has advertisements in there which clutters it .The garlic rolls and tempura prawns were mediocre and the halloumi cheese starter was great . The salaad was served with poor effort and a very low quality of lettuce drawning in water . The steak was tender was tender and pleasing . The chicken pasta was better then the prawn pasta The prawns, chicken and fish in hot were rich and tasty I preferred it over the mild .
Tasty fisk but not better than ocean basket. The restaurant features indoor as well as outdoor sitting area as well. The prices are generally on the higher side when compared with ocean basket. The mojito they serve are pretty good and pack a punch. The seafood starters are amazing, especially the squid stuffed with prawns. Do try that. Thanks Adega!
