Calisto's Portuguese Restaurant

My food was delicious, but the kids mac & cheese was only macaroni with sauce no cheese. Waiter didn't show us the kids menu, I had to change my daughter's order after seeing kids menu. The prizes are reasonable. But mango juice was sour with an after taste, I did tell the waiter but he wasn't interested.Food: 4/5

Absolutely horrible. I ordered the starter platter. Calamari in a cheese sauce that was split. Chicken livers delivered in a small dipping sauce container. Literally only 3 pieces. The Chicken wings was dry and tasted horrible. I do not recommend this place at all. There were bad reviews and I decided to see for myself. They are clearly not interested in improving the standards of cooking and service.

Please don't waste your money at this place: Purchased the family special for R570 [not worth it all] full chicken was so small i thought it was half a chicken, i had to count the pieces, chicken was so tough as if over cooked or old but inside the bone was pinkish [clearly not cooked properly], portion of chips was so less [i had to buy chips from another restaurant to make up for the small portion] and the garlic roll was quite small for a family meal, only good thing was the prawns, will never buy from here again, gosh that chicken was just terrible, the packet had more sauce than chicken! Pigeon sized chicken! Unbelievable

We were sat down at a table and given menus.For 30minutes we weren't attended to so we walked out. If the restaurant was busy it would have been understandable but this was not the case. Here is a picture on the menu because that is all we got.Food: 1/5

It was an extremely busy Sunday late lunch/early supper. Our server was very polite and helpful despite how busy the restaurant was. The food was average I would say at best. It was enjoyable but did not live up to my expectations. I have eaten at the branch in Silverstar Casino JHB and the food was delicious. I had the half dozen prince prawns and my husband had the pepperoni pizza which was more like everything they had in the kitchen with polony since that doesn't look anything like pepperoni.

Good evening. I just visited your establishment. It was a very unwelcoming experience. The person at the door was very unfriendly andn couldn't even speak properly to seat us. My meals was bland and over salted. The chicken tasted boiled with no flavour. Do you normally and Cabbage has a garnish? My wifes' meal was prepared well compared to mine. Sadly I will not be coming back to restaurant ,nor will recommend anyone to visit. For the prices you are charging, your food and customer service should be a million times better..

I had my daughters farewell party @ Calistos gateway. It was the best experience ever. The food was delicious, the place was exclusive and the waiters were very accommodating friendly and helpful. Please give it a try and I promise you will be extremely satisfied. Well done to the team @ Calistos Gateway.

Excellent place to go and eat. Food is halaal. Great variety of dishes to choose from. Well worth the value as the portions are HUGE. The only let down was the table service. Took 5 min to receive a menu. Then took 15 min to place an order. The starter only came 20min after that. But worth the wait. Would have got 4 stars but because of the wait, 3 stars. The chicken schnitzel was great And with the mushroom sauce was excellent. The chips were terrific. Highly recommend, maybe just order ahead unless you want to wait

Hi Happy mother's day to you hope u had a wonderful day We just like to say how grateful we are for how an evening we didn't know would turn out so awesome, we never expected the time we had at calistos last night, It was incredible and most importantly the sweet 16 girl was blown away , Njabulo was awesome and made us feel super welcome and saw to all our needs and the rest of the staff we great as well, meals were served on time and they were delicious, he had a cake stand and knife which we had forgotten to carry, so all in all, our evening was spectacular and some of the customers joined in with surprising my neice , thank you again and our most sincere gratitude.
