Waited an hour in the queue, only one person serving... and this was called Quickpath!!. Then was assigned a car with a broken off rear view mirror. Managed to drive out 2 hours after I got to Avis and missed my appointment.
Avis loves charging refuel charge and the supposedly petrol they put in regardless of you refueling at the airport garage. Adds about R200 on your bill - imagine how many people miss this money for mahala at this time - I am still waiting for response re fefund. My last rental ever. I have been renting monthly for the past 12 years and they have not changed -
I had to go to jhb for one day, to do somebody a favor. Rented a car at Avis. I did not have my phone by mistake. So I ask for a gps in the car . They gave a Tom Tom. Soft ware must have been 15 years old. The first one did not have the right charger, so back to the airport, told them that also the software on the Tom Tom was agent. They gave me an other one. Also very old software. I got completely lost. I landed in the cross roads, I was very concerned. I heard from some one at Avis that they had complains before but management did nothing about it. For a co. As big as Avis , it is shocking. Furthermore, they make you sign a very lengthy contract. You can not inspect the car for dents or scratches in the bad light in the overhead car park. I think they should have a bay that is well lit so one can inspect before you take the car. As a last thing, they gave me an automatic without asking me if that was ok? I never drove an automatic before. I am in a strange city, with a useless Tom tom and an automatic. There was a car that pulled in front of me, so my reaction was that for a manual driven car in an automatic. Come on Avis get your act together, be professional.
Avis is really a hit and miss between different branches. This one is definitely a miss. To list the number of issues I’ve had with this branch would be a list you will read until you die. STAY AWAY FROM THEM.
Got a clean car, manual, in and out within 20 minutes. Profesional personnel, friendly and efficient.
No complaints with AVIS at OR Tambo. We rented an SUV for a week at Kruger and everything went smoothly. Check-in was fast and the vehicle was clean and ready to go in a well-lit garage. Drop-off was easy with helpful staff to check-in the car. We received the final bill a few days after returning from the trip and there were no extra charges--we were billed as we expected. Pro tip: Watch your speed on the highways! Camera traps are common and we got two tickets on our drive back from Kruger to the airport. You don't pay AVIS for the ticket costs, but they will charge your credit card an administrative fee of R400 for each ticket and they charged our card two months after we had returned home.
I was very disappointed in my Group B vehicle selection. No fault of Avis, they did ask if the vehicle was ok and I agreed. Collecting the vehicle and returning the vehicle was quick and effortless.
Went to fetch the rental....so many counters..just one person attending to clients. Doesn't management realise that those without bookings take ages to process and yet queues build up but nobody comes out of their comfy offices to help clear the queue...terrible long wait to be attended to. Not a good experience.
Renting from Avis is like a date gone horribly wrong. They give you a quote, you rent, and then they double the amount from the quote. They give you a car that isn't filled, mine only three quarters full, chargr e-tolls which is no longer in use. Stay away from Avis.
Great friendly staff when I got the keys... But my car was not good, needed to go in to be serviced after driving it for only 600km. Very squeaky breaks, which truly stinks on a safari when you drive up to animals. Funny sounds came from under the hood, And I was accused of damage to the window which was there. But we just saw it when driving out of the dark garage on the freeway leading away from the airport. After travel for 14 hours and waiting for car for an hour, i did not feel like driving back to deal with that. Plus didn't know if that damage shows already for the car or not. Wasn't made aware of anything
