Thank you Derek for going above and beyond to assist my mom and i as we travelled needing special assistance for the first time which was quite stressful! He made a special effort to drop us at the drop off zone and carried my mom from the car to her wheelchair without hesitation... Im truly blown away by his kindness and above and beyond amazing service to us. Thank you!
It's publicised as First car, bt is actually Hertz, a nane known to scam it's customers. If I had known I was dealing with Hertz, I would not have booked the car, but I received an upgrade against a ridiculous high deposit that is still not released after six days. They said the car had no defects, but after inspection filmed and reported there wxere many scrathes and dents. I warned I will be reteurning the car at 5am, "no problem" she said. no one to greet me and when I found the return manager, he was mean and threatening. worst rental car experience in my life and i am a veteran.
This is the first time after filling up gas for almost R700 and drove back to the car rental place which was less than 5 minutes, I was charged another R258.29...Please do not hire a car with these thieves. They also charged me R45 fee for refuelling. Skip the etag fee too. However, the customer service from the front desk was more than amazing. I made sure to get a unlimited mileage, and I was happy with the car.
FIRST CAR RENTAL: MY EXPERIENCE First Car Rental - usually my first choice when arriving in Cape Town or Joburg. I always fill up at the airport, so I find it strange that the often charge me between 0,5L and 2L petrol even after I show the receipt of filling up. Now for my 5 star rating and why I will carry on booking with First Car. In March 2023 I returned my car. I checked it and off I was on a plane to Europe. Upon arrival I realized I had left my whole wallet cash, credit cards etc. in the middle console of my rental. I switched my phone on upon arrival, just to see First Car had already tried to phone me. Long story short, I got everything back AND the staff refused to take a generous finders fee I had offered. They said: "That is our job and we are happy we could help." WHERE DO YOU FIND THAT? THANK YOU STAFF OF FIRST CAR RENTAL. IN YOUR NAME I WILL THUS DONATE R5.000 TO THE CHILDRENS CANCER CLINIC.
I booked a car for 3 weeks, with full insurance cover. Sooo many things went wrong ! 1. The car i rented wasn’t available, they gave me a much smaller car, that had many bumps and scratches, without changing the rental price. 2. The agent at the counter kept on asking me to speak french to him. He was so busy being flirty that he « forgot » to ask some questions about the insurance. I didn’t think there was anything to discuss about it as I already booked the « full insurance package » on the internet. 3. During the trip, a stone cracked the windscreen. I didn’t think it was a big deal thanks to the crazy amount of money spent on the-said full insurance cover. Big surprise when I brought the car back : « the insurance covers everything except windscreen and tires. ». Let’s remember they call it a FULL insurance package… On pick-up day, that’s what the agent should have asked me : did I want to buy an extra insurance for windscreen and tires ? Guys, let’s think logically for a second, if a customer requests a FULL INSURANCE PACKAGE, it means we want to FULLY cover the car ! 4. They charged me R3000 on pick-up day for eTolls and police fines, if needed. They’re supposed the refund whatever amount wasn’t used. I spent R317,49 on eTolls… but I’m still waiting for the R2680ish refund ! When I ask about it on their Customer Service, they don’t bother to reply. This company isn’t serious. Do yourself a favor and book a vehicle somewhere else.
Great service from this gentleman at OR Tambo. I rented a car and after 30min of returning the vehicle I realised I left my wallet inside. When I got back there he took me straight to the vehicle ,gave me the key and told me to get my wallet back. I wanted to reward him with cash but he declined so the best I could do is praise him. You have a real good employee working for you
I want to thank staff, specially Oscar who helped us a lot after a long flight arriving very early in the morning from Spain, he was still friendly polite and helpful. I am a Sixt Platinum member and can only say: be aware of this company. They will charge you fuel and fuel admin cost even if you fill up the car at the gas station at the local property!
