Bergsig Trout Farm

Went to Bergsig for the first time yesterday. Lovely setting, management was helpful & the fishing was fun...ended up with 8 Bass & 1 Trout. I fished 3 of there dams, 4 are small & 2 are a fare size. I would've liked to have fished the main dam as l saw a really nice size Bass but it was fully booked...will be coming back during the week to try fish the main dam. I saw some really large Carp in the new dam 15kgs+. The camping area looked neat, camping will defiantly be on the cards. All in all...it's a great place & well worth a visit.

A tough carp fishing lake but big rewards. If you are looking for a carp specimen lake near Johannesburg, South Africa with camping facilities available then this is a great choice. Happy Fishing

It’s a beautiful spot, offers fishing and picnic area. It has a lovely view and scenery and the owner is very friendly. There is a 1km stream and you can camp on site. The beautiful thing is there is power supply in the middle of the grounds next to the stream and a newly renovated block of toilets and showers.

Nice chilled and quiet place. Great place to escape the city life. I didn't catch any fish on the day, I wasn't allowed to fish at the big as its reserved for those who booked a camp site.

I highly recommend, the only specimen dam that could truely challenge you angling ability! Don't be fooled by this "small" dam, there are big fish swimming around. My fiance caught some great fish! The only constructive criticism I can give it there needs to be some upgrades towards the bathroom facility as well as lower prices for visiting the riverside.

Very poorly run venue. After more than 12 years of fishing at Bergsig, Thys still treat me like its my first time fishing there. Such a shame that Karen stopped running things, those were the good old days. Rather go fishing at Kloofzicht lodge.

Bergsig is a beautiful place but could be run better!! Service is very disappointing and that from the start will set you off!! We went for some family afternoon fishing experience. The owners where not really cooperative and too keen to see visitors, everything was handled slowly, we requested firewood and for some hammocks and this came ages later! One of my aunts fell from the hammock but we had clearly stipulated that the hammock was for an adult some of the fishing rods were nit working, lucky enough we had pulled up with three of ours . The place is not hospitable at all, you are just told to drive towards a specific spot and fish there, but there is no Carre for a guide to accompany you and make you feel comfortable. This place could do with some customer service TLC!

Wonderful place, plenty of open space and bright sunshine. Place to braai, excellent river front and dams to try out your fishing skills. Loved it, will be back .... Thys the owner is a gem of a guy, very helpful

We had a fantastic time fishing at Bergsig trout farm. Saturday was excitement busy and did not catch however we decided to return on Sunday and we pulled out a few really decent sized karp. Beautiful spot really safe and great time had by all
