Smack in the middle of Bo Kaap area, the Malay quarters. Pleasant food, Cape Malay delights, not as spicy as Indian, neither too close to Malay dishes in the Malay archipelago. It's halal and Muslim owned. It's nice on its on, you can't compare with other food but on cold weather a hot dishes is really what you need and nothing better than Biesmiellah. Dietary restrictions: Halal. Muslim owner restaurant.
I had set out to go to another restaurant, but as fate would have it - I landed at this lovely gem! The service is great and the food just wonderful. When in Cape Town, go to Bo Kaap and eat here. You will not regret it. I will be back again!Food: 5/5
Authentic Cape Malay. The portions are generous. I enjoyd the yellow dhaal, and the condiments were next level. I will return in'sha'Allah!
I highly recommend everyone to eat here. THE BEST FOOD in CAPE TOWN. I have been to Spur, Debonnairs, Nandos, KFC, Panarottis, etc… but the food here tastes very delicious and yummy. Next time I go Cape Town will have to find an accommodation near this restaurant so that I could eat nicely
Authentic and delicious. Don't miss out on this hidden gem.Food: 5/5
Went to this restaurant last night after reading the good reviews on here. Worst restaurant I have ever been in my life. The atmosphere was very off as soon as we got there. The staff were not very friendly at all and it was as if they didn't want us to be there. I ordered the mutton curry, the food didn't look fresh and wasn't even hot. I sensed that it was microwaved. Half way through eating the food i noticed that there was a snail in my food. One of the very rude waiters he/she tried to convince me that it was a clove, as if I don't know the difference between a clove and a snail. Later on she admitted that it was a snail and offered me another dish of which I refused. I had sickness and diarrhoea all night. Please avoid this restaurant at all cost, it's filthy. It costed us a day of our holiday!!!
This is the second time I've eaten here. Both experiences were mediocre, primarily because the food didn't match my expectations. The host and hostess are friendly and attentive and the place is neat. A young male waiter seemed quite disinterested in doing more than simply taking the orders down. The bobotie had been recommended to me, but despite a good array of accompanying ramekins with sauces and vegetables, the bobotie itself was dry and lacked the rich flavour I'm used to with this traditional Malay dish. Parking is on the street and, though the area of Bo-Kaap has many colourful and neat little cottages near the restaurant, I felt I had to keep looking after my car to see that all was well with it.
Beautiful Malay food, fresh and delishes. A must visit!Food: 5/5
Super authentic Cape Malay food. Very clean looking place. Service was amazing. The owner man with name starting with S was super hospitable to me and my South African wife. Even gave us a sample of Cape Malay-style koeksisters - lekker! The bobotie was amazing - don't tell my mother in law! Would highly recommend coming here for lekker kos and a great experience in the Bo Kaap! Went on a Monday or Tuesday night and could park right outside the place. There was also a takeaway section that looked like it had great stuff and seemed very busy/popular.
Prime location, not too far from Bo-Kaap. Even the colours in the restaurant match Bo-Kaap’s! This restaurant serves the most amazing authentic food! All the dishes we had were amazing! From the Babotie, to the samosas, rôtie, to the Koeksisters. We will definitely return again, that’s for sure. Great great service!
