This Turkish styled restaurant located in the heart of the city was an absolute delight to celebrate a themed birthday party. The meze platters with traditional hummus, olive and eggplant dipping pesto to the flatbreads which where made fresh with sesame seeds - all the food as it was served was delicious. Special mention for the beef kebabs and filet stake which was grilled to perfection and flavoursome. Really melt in the mouth with every bite. Our party of 11 also throughly enjoyed the belly dancer who kept us entertained throughout the night Service was exceptional and attentive and staff very friendly. Thank you to everyone for a wonderful experience
The atmosphere and decor is amazing! The food is awesome! The portion sizes are more than enough and the service is fast. Everything and everyone is looked after. Again, the food is so amazing!!! Would go again in a heart beat!
I highly recommend this hidden Kurdish restaurant gem in Cape Town for a girls night out , lunch or dinner date & sundowners with amazing Arabian Shisha. 34 Burg Street Green Market Square Being a travel & food Influencer I enjoyed my visit at Mespotamia the restaurant has a great indoor & outdoor seating , myself & my friends sat outside. Our waiter was super friendly including the restaurant manager Huseyin. I’ve never tasted such an amazing chicken pasta its so creamy OMG their lamb pizza is a winner , not forgetting their affordable cocktails & best shisha which is only R165 lasts for 2hrs. Roughly R1000 is enough for 2 people it covers food , drinks 2 cocktails / ciders / beer each & 1 bottle of wine & shisha. Their entertainment of belly dancers & live music is out of this world I felt like I’m literally in Turkey
I absolutely loved the old Mesopotamia. Not so much the new version, though the food was great, I had a lamb shank perfectly cooked, it felt like a street café. Gone is the panache it exuded so elegantly and even the collectivist culture has evaporated. Still worth a first timer visit to be fair. My review is based on what I've previously experienced and is now no more.
Food is good. Drink is so refreshing. Highly recommended this restaurant when visiting Cape Town.Food: 5/5
Went there for a dinner. Ordered fish and calamari and a plate of Kebab. The first dish was ok. As For the kebab, I got a Shishlik, badly done. I returned the plate and did not ask for another. After few minutes came another plate, this time with Kebab. I was not hungry anymore and returned this one as well. When the bill came The Kebab was there on the bill. There was belly dancing, too noisy. Bottom line: quite disappointed from this restaurant.
Its with sadness I give them a 2star review. We had our year end staff function at the restaurant. For me its all about value for money. We had a set menu which consisted of a starter, main and dessert. Starter i enjoyed it was these different spreads for bread. Everything came in small plates. keeping in mind we paid R385 per person. The main consisted of rice, one small chop, one wing, one burger patty, small portion of fries. All squeezed on a plate that was not a dinner plate. Dessert was the smallest square of Baklava one can imagine and they never gave the ice cream we had to ask. There were not drinks included. The waiters were not as nice as youd expect and they did not really speak English well. One of their staff members, a lady with glasses were staring at our table and having a drink the entire time. not sure what her role was but it was a bit strange. There was a belly dancer. but the act was noisy and distracting during our meal. Overall, I wouldn't return.
Dinner was great. The calamari appetizer was the only thing I wouldn't order again. The falafel appetizer was really good. And the Chicken Cokertme was amazing.
I recently attended a work function at Mesopotamia and was thoroughly impressed by the experience. The staff were attentive and ensured that our drink orders were taken care of quickly, which was especially appreciated considering the large group we were with. The food was excellent, with a wide variety of flavors and delicious dishes to choose from. The highlight of the evening, however, was the beautiful belly dancer who got the crowd on their feet and dancing. She added an extra special touch to the event, and everyone had a great time. Overall, Mesopotamia was a fantastic choice for our work function. The combination of great food and entertainment made for a truly memorable evening. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and enjoyable dining experience
Beautiful, warm and rustic looking restaurant with great tasting food and meze platters. Service is fast and waitrons are very friendly and helpful. We arrived on a cold winter's night and restaurant was not very busy. We sat upstairs and everything look cosy and neat. Will be back soon to try the rest of the menuFood: 5/5
