This is the restaurant in the taj hotel, it’s a beautiful hotel really. We went to the restaurant and they sit us down took our first order drink only to change us place 5 minutes later to the bar of the hotel since they were cleaning the restaurant. The table and seat at the bar are the most inconvenient they are almost impossible to move and the way the table legs are made you are always stuck in your seat or sitting to far from the table since it’s very hard to move the table or chair… but at least the food was good we came here for the food and was delivered awesome food. The staff at the bar of the hotel were also way nicer than the one at the restaurant where they were a little rude. We also ordered wine, they propose that good local wine from Cape Town, we were really pleased by the wine he choose for us with our specifications and our meal. Bloody Mary is spicy here we like it this way but keep in mind it’s spicier than most places.
Waited for 15 minutes before being served for breakfast. I actually had to get up and find a waiter to serve me. I was looking forward to their Full English, which was disappointing. Sausages were bland, no bread and a scrambled mess I asked for fried, over easy. At least the mushrooms were good. For the price, I was expecting much better quality.
This review is for the Mint restaurant at the Taj Cape Town. Truly the only saving grace was the wait staff particularly the manager Andrew but especially the waiter Lutho. These two gentlemen with their professionalism made for the disaster that was the kitchen staff.Food: 1/5
Very nice restaurant with lovely decore. Staff both in the evening and the mo8 are helpful and very friendly. For dinner we had steak served with chips and young broccoli. Good portions and good taste. Breakfast is a buffet with a good spread, even salmon. Enjoyed eating here and will return.
We were a party of three people who all had the Thursday Prawn special for lunch. Mint does not seem particularly geared for a lunch serving as we twice had to get up and find waiters to serve us despite there having been only three occupied tables in the restaurant for the lunch service. The other tables received bread before their mains, but we only received ours with our mains after complaining. The Thursday Prawn Special is a generous size portion and pretty tasty albeit somewhat cold. I left with the impression that the kitchen is capable but the serving staff need some training. I wish someone had told me about the valet parking on offer for restaurant guests as I managed to only find an open parking bay seven city blocks away!
We enjoyed our meal at MINT. Very polite and friendly staff, good quality food. The hummus starters and kebab mains were delightful. The dessert menu was tasty, but the weakest of the lot. Good technique, flavours need refinement. Good wine list and pretty decor recently revamped. I'm giving it 3 stars as it is adequate, but not one of Cape Town's top 10.
Great food, we enjoyed the shrimp and lamb chops. Tomato soup could use more spice. Beautiful interior, design is stylish with good taste and not too flashy, just as in the lobby and Bombay Brasserie. Lighting just right with beautiful lamps complimenting the duck blue walls. Maybe one could do without the blinking lights on the outside terrace. Took a while for our food to come but our waitresses were friendly and professional.
Fantastic food and staff. Huge portions and wonderful service. The chef is amazing. The tomato soup is a MUST. We just disembarked from a cruise and the meal at MINT was definitely better. It was so good, we went there the both nights we were in Cape Town.
Very nice to have a quiet little lunch. Was here some time ago, I had no idea they had this beautiful restaurant inside the Taj hotel. Good service and the staff are polite and professional. I would highly recommend, also perfect for business meetings.
The restaurant has a new menu and better service Setting: 5/5 Food: 4/5 tasty but portions aren't huge Service: 5/5 Prices: R180-R250 per main meal as you would expect from such a place Relaxed, beautiful and comfortable restaurant. Good for business meetings in the day or a group of friends at night. Tips: - you can park in the Taj hotel even if you're not staying there - Mint restaurant is part of the Taj hotel so you can walk into the Taj bar which has also been redone for a drink.
