Such a great getaway to nature while basically still in the city There's hiking and cycling trails as well as normal roads to view game the zebras are surprisingly tame The dirt roads are well maintained and can be driven by any passenger car. All the picnic areas have short grass with clean bins. The toilets are very neat and tidy Several braai areas are situated around the communal thatch covered lapa and up along the stream. Best of all, entrance is FREE
Incredible experience! You get a variety of wild animals, clean braai facilities and secure Lapa areas.. all for free!
Tha Vaal's little nature getaway. Nice for picnic, walking, mtb'ing, and animal watching. And it is for free,
Nice and fresh atmosphere out here
Excellent place to go to if you love nature. Very nice picnic spots and selfdrive routs. Amazing wildlife to see and 2 very nice dams. Entrance to park is free. Only open on weekends and public holidays.
The eco park is a fabulous venue for a daytrip with the family. Good facilities, beautiful animals and a relaxing atmosphere to unwind from the daily hustle & bustle of city life. Well maintained and safe.
Outdoors and nature enthusiasts folks will have a blast and enjoy the wildlife while you are able to garter around the fire with meat sizzling over the flames... Waiting to dish up your cirounded with the beauty of animals... free to enter, only take your picnic basket and get going...
So sad can't get in because of sewage problems that the municipality is not attending to we love the park in normal conditions
I always enjoy being at Bongani Mabaso with my family, it's nice and relaxing. Lat weekend 09/02/2019 when I was there I was disappointed to see dead fish catfish in the top pond, as shown in these photos which I posted. It seems some contamination into the water system there at the park or maybe upstream, someone could have unknowingly thrown something in the water which turned out to be poisonous for the fish. From where I was taking the photos from, I saw four big ones and I am not sure how many have actually died, they could probably be more and the bottom pond might also have been affected. Bearing in mind that catfish can survive in very trying environments, it points that whatever happened needs investigation... I informed the gate security personnel to take it further with SASOL. I urge us all to help preserve the park and make sure when we are there enjoying the scenery we do not throw things into the water...
Absolutely love the Nature and openness.
