This is the official Buh-Rein Estate Facebook Page.
24 Hour Security Estate situated in Cape Town's Northern Suburbs.
Buh-Rein Estate offers far more than most lifestyle developments. The green spaces are numerous and ample, with significant indigenous planting. They contribute to giving Buh-Rein its enchanting and unique character. Great effort has also gone into making the built areas of the estate comfortable, spacious and pleasing to the eye.
It feels natural to spend more time outdoors at Buh-Rein, having a braai or playing with the kids. You can walk the streets and shade-dappled pathways without looking over your shoulder, or worrying that it might be getting dark soon. All pedestrian pathways in the estate are a generous 2m wide, so strolling with friends or family is always a pleasure. You’ll quickly make many of the verdant lawns and shady spots your favourite relaxation spots – although the estate’s jogging and cycling tracks might tempt you to be more active. In total the pathways, cycling and jogging tracks at Buh-Rein add up to a fitness-friendly 10 km.
Buh-Rein is enhanced by all the amenities you’d find in a suburb: for residents’ convenience and enjoyment, an on-site shopping centre is confirmed. On warm summer afternoons, sports lovers gather on the estate’s huge, multi-purpose sports field, freely used by residents and school teams. The hi-tech Estate Management Centre houses a power and water usage services company; the security control room and the estate management company. The Centre also houses changing facilities for sportsmen and women, and often becomes an entertainment and function venue, making it a community attraction as well as an administration hub.
Yes, Buh-Rein is more than the usual estate. It’s a thriving, growing community.
Buh-Rein has got the balance right between strategically placed utilities and environmental considerations.
Indigenous vegetation attracts endemic bird and insect species, freshens the air and cools temperatures – important in a development that has a lot of building fabric, as Buh-Rein does. The landscaping comprises over 2000 trees: Species including Cape Ash (Ekebergia capensis) and Waterberry (Syzygium) create shady areas along the streets and in the park areas, while Yellowwoods (Podocarpus falcatus) are set to line adjacent Darwin Road, taking the greenery even beyond the estate walls.
Running through the middle of Buh-Rein is a linked series of 10 detention ponds that filter and transport storm water. This green zone actually falls in the powerline servitude and serves a vital water drainage role, but it has also been landscaped for the enjoyment of residents – not to mention the local birdlife. A well-lit, paved pedestrian path meanders around the outside of the ponds, making the area charming by day or night. Strollers are able to cross the ponds on timber bridges, placed at various crossing points.
All the plants at Buh-Rein are water-wise and are irrigated by means of treated effluent water. This adds another string to Buh-Rein’s bow as a “green estate”.
