Cape of Good Hope in South Africa is a true natural wonder that should not be missed. Located at the southwestern tip of the continent, it offers breathtaking views of rugged cliffs, pristine beaches, and a diverse range of flora and fauna. The dramatic landscapes and the crashing waves of the Atlantic Ocean create a mesmerizing backdrop for visitors. The Cape of Good Hope is also home to a variety of wildlife, including baboons and ostriches. Whether you're a nature enthusiast, photographer, or simply seeking tranquility, this iconic destination provides an unforgettable experience. Don't forget to capture the incredible moments and take in the awe-inspiring beauty of Cape of Good Hope.
Go with a guide who can explain to you some of the history of the Cape and of Cape Town. There is a cost to enter the state park. Also - do your best to leave before 8am from Cape Town. This will give you the best shot of beating the multiple 54 person tour buses which seem to roll in consistently. There is nothing actually at the Cape of Good Hope besides a sign and a stairway to get a great view. It is usually extremely windy, so use precautions when opening car doors and standing on rocks/uneven surfaces.
Beautiful place and it was definitely cool to see the most south westernly place of the continent. The beach is gorgeous and the park is filled with the aroma of beautiful Fynbos, known to grow in the Cape Town area. There are tons of hiking routes, places for picnics and photo oppertunities. They have a light house but I would recommend hiking shoes and water for that trip. They have few wild animalslike ostriches and the baboons seem to be extremely chill. The park also has a restaurant so it really has everything you need. I loved the no cash facility at the enterance!!
This place is very nice. The thing which makes me disappointed is the entrance fee. It is just over expensive and in that price is included just entrance through one gate. At this price, I can enjoy a lot of different fun, etc. Yes, the landscape is beautiful but the same is also around where is it for free. Anyway, this place isn’t that place where I want to go twice. Even one time is not worthy ‍
Definitely worth the trip. I recommend going up the little hike up to the lighthouse for a beautiful view. On your way down from Cape Town, go through Boulders Beach to see the penguins, on your way back to Cape Town go through the other side, Atlantic coast, with beautiful views as well.
An incredible experience. Stunning views, many birds, baboons and other species, and the vast-less ocean…powerful yet peaceful and serene. The trip with the cable car is short up to the lighthouse. Just make sure that during power outages, so called “load shedding”, the cable car does not work. We hiked down, which was beautiful and we encountered a rare spider.
Well worth the drive from Cape Town! It was basically a whole day excursion. I had a rental car and like to explore the coast so was not in a hurry driving! You can hike to the top of the Cape for great views or pay and take a funicular. I opted for the funicular, fast and easy up and down. I did see several Zebra and Ostrich driving in by the side of the road. Apparently there are wild Elan roaming about as well! Oh and those pesky baboons! Be careful!
Amazing history! The feeling of standing at the lowest part of Africa was thrilling. We went in our summer, so it was their winter / which means a sweater and maybe a hoodie is needed to fend off the winds from the water. Plenty of parking for busses and cars and there are great gift shops and restaurants and cafe and easy coffee. The scenery is breathtaking! You need to be careful that the baboons and ostriches don’t steal your lunches if you are brown bagging it. There are public, clean bathrooms. I would suggest booking a tour because there are very winding roads to travel with a stunning vista at each winding turn. If you keep driving around the coast to Sea-point there are absolutely hundreds. of penguins who love jumping into the crashing waves. With their families. This was a true adventure with the meeting of so many cultures and languages, history and devastatingly beautiful scenery.
Amazing place with great view of the ocean and mountains, only two hours from cape town, it is a must see destination for any tourist visiting South Africa. Lots of walking trails, many animals such as baboons, penguins, antílopes and more. Allow plenty of time to enjoy nature and learn about five centuries of history.
Great day out beautiful scenery wildlife walking if not too hot. little cliff railway take you up to top of cliff 2/3 rd to see views and lighthouse and beehive it or not toilets all that way up! Winding path back to base. Shop little cafe basic snacks Match weather can be rainy but warm take raincoatVisited onWeekday
