Checkers Sea Point

This is a delightful store, conveniently located in Sea Point. Perhaps not a flagship, but over-delivers as a grocery store. Fresh fruits and veg right at the entrance, sushi bar with fresh sushi on the belt, at a decent price. The store is well laid out and even on your first visit, for some reason, you don't feel lost or have to look to hard for things. Beyond the regular, the meat appears of good quality and there is a butcher on site for special requests. The touch of traditional sweets and treats pumpkin fritters is endearing and the bakery staff deserve a special mention for tasty treats. The wait at the till was short.

The Sushi section in Checkers is a complete surprise!! Wonderful fresh sushi expertly made by the Asian chef Tony. I was even more surprised when I saw how affordable it was. They will definitely see me again!!

We have been coming here since I was a child and the Kosher facilities here are incredible. There is a kosher bakery, pareve counter with salads and a meal counter with ready cooked meat, chicken and sides. There is a central fridge with uncooked meat, cheese, yoghurt etc. Anything a kosher visitor could ask for.

A Wonderful, clean and beautiful store. Its one of my favorite checkers. For years I have been shopping from them. They have a truly wonderful daily cooked food with plenty of options. The owners are permanently in the floor and always friendly when needed help. The store been renewed not long ago...I have never entered and left empty handed, due the massive effort been added to display every single product in very inviting way..well done checkers!

Good store. It could be much better if the counter service at the bakery and confectionery area was improved - maybe the usually only one staff member working there could lift their eyes to see how many customers are waiting and perhaps increase her pace a little. Very slack service at that counter and service is non-existent at the cold meats counter. Also - the 'shoppers' who are doing the shopping for the delivery orders must become more aware of the instore customers and not block the aisles with their trolley taking their time to select and record the goods they are putting in the bags. As I said - it would be a great store if staff were better trained to give better customer service.

It's a great store. Lots of variety and some good food deals. My only issues are that they are disjointed and the "fast" tellers are actually really slow. They're disjointed with how things are placed but also, they have like 8 hot or ready made food sections throughout the store instead of focused in one area for convenience. Crazy.

First impression was that the "not so nice" Shoprite smell was gone. There were many people who assisted us with different requests. Finally at the till point, I realised I forgot something and the supervisor at hand went to get it for me. A very satisfying shopping experience even though the workmen and interior designers were very busy completing the store.

There has been a huge improvement in service and speed at till points. The new layout of the space is easy to navigate. I will be shopping more at Checkers over Clicks upstairs!

The service in this beautiful looking store will break your spirit. It is where customer service goes to die. If you are tired of being seen and want to argue with the merchandisers, cashiers and supervisors then this is the store for you. If you value your dignity...walk on by.

A great selection of cold Mears and cheese and everything that goes on a cheese board! Awesome Jewish products as well. Love this store. Clean and well organized.
